As dumb as this sounds...do you have the WHOLE file downloaded? (as in all the files contained in that dvd), cuz you download torrents in pieces just like any other P2P, and you may not be able to play it cuz headers are missing or crap like that yada yada yada..that's also why I only get music off them :P

Doesn't sound dumb...The torrent I got it from has the entire last season of friends. So there's about 17 episodes or something in it. Each one is about 250+mb.

so I am pretty sure it's the whole enchalada.

I've been using bittorrent for a few years now.. Stay away from exeeme (sp) it's loaded with some not so cool spyware... I've used many BT types of software and Bittornado is my favorite.

If your going to DL with bittorent you will want to find and install a .rar file extracting program for extracting compressed files that are often put up for DL.

You will also want Alcohol 120% for burning VCD's and DVD's that are usually ripped to .bin file format. You should be able to find both of these programs fairly easily on Bittorent sites for DL.

I have 5 codec packs installed on my computer and I haven't run in to anything I can't play in over a year. Just do a google search for codec packs and install a few of them and you should be good to go. Run spybot and some other spyware killers after you install the codecs to kill any other crap that they may install with the codec's.

The Yahoo toolbar has Anti-spy built in to it that will scan your computer for crap and it works quite well and it is free.

Hope this all helps some you new BT users...

IT WORKS!

Ok, so I think I just had too much **** installed on the system...I had every codec compounded on top of codec and I think everything was conflicting.

Conflicting so badly that WMP quit working all together. I had to go reinstall SP2 and it started working again.

Rebooted and then fired up Nimo install but just checked the XVID and AC3 filter which is what the file required (thanks Josh for figuring that out)...Now it fires right up.......I am able to play the one file on my laptop but lets see if it actually plays the others...don't see why it shouldn't.

I will open up my media server pretty soon to GenD.

I have over 70 gig worth of music and about the 70 or so movies. If I can get my FTP server to work right then we can all share our crap.

Thanks to all y'all that helped with this.

As soon as you get the server worked out, I'll have some stuff I can send your way...just finished d'ling Night Watch, a Russian movie they're bringing to the US. It looks awesome, but the movie iteself has problems...its in Russian, but with english subtitles (in a different .sub file) that you overlay with vosub...here's the problem-

Its also an AC3 audio formated movie. For whatever reason, it wont play audio (even if russian) and subtitles at the same time. WMP will do subtitles, DIVXplayer will do audio, but its very faint even with the speakers cranked all the way and all the volume sliders up everywhere... Man I hate reading movies lol

But Dave once you sort that prob you are having with the FTP, I'll make short work of that 50 GB you have free
