Top Reasons Fd Suck!

[quote name='1988RedT2' date='Jul 18 2005, 01:43 PM']The muscle car was long dead by 1979. The American auto industry was making big square cars with wimpy smogged-out V8 engines that handled like boats. Anyone looking for a cleanly styled, lightweight and sporty automobile was looking to Porsche, Datsun, and Mazda. Their sexual orientation really didn't have much to do with it. Lots of rich old **** drove Cadillacs.

Weren't YOU a rich old *** in 1979?

[quote name='defprun' date='Jul 18 2005, 10:34 AM']Fd's are nice, but without the mods mazda made to them in japan over the years i dont think they could hold up against my driving like i can drive my fb.

I've seen you drive. We had to keep stopping so you could keep up!

[quote name='1988RedT2' date='Jul 18 2005, 09:18 AM']Well, all this talk about how FC's suck has made me mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore.
Top reasons FD's suck:
1) They are the RX-7 that killed the RX-7 in the US. The FB was a huge sales success, the FC a moderate success, the FD was a dismal failure.
2) By making the FD, Mazda turned a fairly reliable car into a whiny demanding bitch--a trait the car shares with most of it's owners.
Shall I go on?

you forgot 3...
3) I dont own one.
and for the past few weeks i havent either...........

[quote name='94touring' date='Jul 18 2005, 09:02 AM']I have determined that FB's in their day were for woman or gay men. Think about the market of cars in that time frame. Those were the days of big hunks of steel muscle cars. What kind of straight guy was gona be caught dead in a little tiny import of a rotary powered FB? Women and gay men.

I have to agree with 1988redT2. there weren't any muscle cars coming out then. The '82 stang with a 5.0 in '82 but that wasn't well recieved either. A lot of the little imports were viewed as OK. The Big american V8s were viewed as Dinosour material. You look at the numbers of units sold. The FB was huge. The FC was close but the FB was larger in units sold. I'll get numbers

i still like the whole "fds are soo much faster then fcs" thing. hell im sure i know an fb and an fc that can beat you all, no matter how much work you got in your shitbox.
generalizing fcs and saying there all slow just leaves you open to an ***-whooping. next spring folks, next spring ill be tuned and ready to go.
