I've got a feeling they don't let you work for/at Sport Compact Car magazine if you don't/can't change your own oil.

Its a magazine, they are journalist type people. How do they know anything about rx7's other than whatever some idiot they interviewed said. That idiot probably works for mazda.

I really have to disagree with this statement. There are numerous people involved in the publication of car magazines that are very knowledgeable and fanatical car buffs. Believe it or not, a person can be very knowledgeable about cars and be a writer. I have a feeling that Tim Suddard, publisher of Grassroots Motorsports mag would agree with me.

You don't know Tim Suddard like I know Tim Suddard. I just got off the phone with Tim Suddard and he said that FC's suck and that FD's are in another class all to themselves.

This sport compact car guys opinion is full of flaws. How do you even begin to compare an NA 2nd gen to an FD? FD's aren't "guaranteed" long periods of downtime, just like they aren't guaranteed long periods of up time. That depends on the idiot owner who doesn't know what he's doing. In my 5 years of FD ownership I've never had any down time that amounted to anything, at least when compared to any other daily driver. Only thing he got close on was the well documented blown engine thing...which happens to all cars at some point, but happens to "factory stock or close to it" FD's around 80k on average. He would of made a better argument by saying Mazda designed the car a little too complicated for no reason.

i have owned both and seen both FC's and FD's break alot. the main problem with FD's is what previous owners did to the them!!! most people start out with the worst possible cars and wonder why they are unreliable ha ha
