[quote name='phinsup' date='Jul 3 2005, 01:44 PM']Well it was a busy day, I threw the lines in the water around 8:30, got back to the helm set down and ZING, the real was singing.
1st catch was about a 10 or 12 lbs bonita, not good to eat, but great as cut bait.
Next came about an hour later, this guy had some fight, got it to the boat and it was an ugly looking baracuda, set him free.
Around noon as we were heading back we hooked something edible. About a 15lbs King Fish. He fought hard to the boat, saw the boat and kept fighting.
Sorry no pics today!

[quote name='venomrx7' date='Jul 3 2005, 10:13 PM']You go snapper fishing at the rigs very much? Thats our usual, but we also troll for cobia (lemon fish and ling are the same as cobia for those that don't know). Also do a fair bit of spanish mackeral around the islands. the west end of horn island (Mississippi) is some of the best spanish mack fishing you'll ever see.

Yes .. most of my guys do blue Marlin and Tarpon. But when you need high quality meat to eat.....get the diamond jig on! Tying up to the plat forms is not my idea of fun...especially when its 3 or better but thats where dinner is!
I have so much redfish and trout plus all the freshwater..its in my back yard.
I really wish I didnt hhave bad ears cause there is really good spear fishing on the rigs. To see big grouper, tarpon and amberjack swim by in the legs is awsome.

Looks just like a Tuna but little...5 - 10 lbs average . In the same family but I think the blood lines in the meat make it a bitch to use.Great big fish bait though.

We go in a 48' Bertram (sp) so the seas don't get bothersome till about 5-6... I'm usually with a couple old guys who have to tie up because they can't fight a fish in from trolling... its better than nothin though.
I need to go out for marlin soon. I haven't been in a year or two...
