tired of my job

bleh im so tired of my job. im the head tech at an independent shop only been there for a lil over 3 years i think and put the old guy out of a job.
now i see why he was happy when he left, im tired of people and their problems. and im tired of stock ****. i want to work in a performance shop, do **** i actually enjoy.
right now im doing a clutch on an 03 tacoma, getting paid 8 lbr hours for it...removed the trans and stock clutch and everything in like 1.5 hours....now im at home taking a small break before i go back and knock the rest out in like an hour.
this **** is boring, and i work to many hours...no challenges except for 80's buicks that the new ******** asst mgr keeps bringing in my shop befor ei tell them to shove it and get it towed away.
someone find me a new job.

At least working just in a repair shop you always get paid.
Performance shop you have to worry a lot more about people coughing up the cash to pay for all the **** they wanted on their car, or even coming back for it when you're done. (I'm not kidding)

port authority was over 100+ hours a week... i weighed my options and would rather enjoy my youth then be 45, alone, have money and never having experienced my 20's-40's. it was good money and hard work, i just dont think it was worth the sacrifice of well my life.
plus it was less cars motivated, more work on the diesel engine that powers this hoist. and i realized i was heading in a direction that i didnt want to, i like working on cars...just not in my current situation and with the current cars lol.
that pr motorsport thing is sorta what im into, honestly tho ive been rethinking my whole career lately.
baldy: in all honesty its not hard to find a job in my field, plus ive gone thru the ranks a lot faster then you should (in 3 years i went from new guy to a-tech/head tech of the shop and now im basically training kids who are only a few years under me) and have plenty of certifications to show im not just squeezing by. finding someone willing to pay me what im worth... different story.
my current job pay is decent, figure 60k a year before taxes. i just dont think the money and enjoyment outweigh the frustration and annoyance of what im forced to work on.
oh and that 8 hour clutch job wrapped up an hour or so after posting that, wouldve been quicker but the pilot bearing was stuck and i misplaced my puller. and thats with replacing the master and slave and bleeding it.

Try opening up your own shop. You will be happier, and you can be your own boss.
How old are you Kev, you can't be much older than me. Go back to school or something. Persue something that you have always wanted to do, but never did. Photography, art, teaching, whatever have you.

im 22 (23 in june), i enjoy what i do. just the combination of the work coming into the shop and the bs i get from the company is killing me lately. ive already gone to school, that was BS and money wasted, IMHO.
Im just looking for a different avenue in my current career.
as for opening my own business, thats planned for down the road but first i want to keep getting some things under my hat and everything. my dad runs/owns his own engineering company so im covered form the business aspect and he is pretty skilled at mechanics (we build 50's tractors together) so hed be able to understand the business and has offered to help me out. I'm a person who enjoy working for themselves rather then some oppresive company, i just need to reach a point where id feel comfortable cutting ties to the corporate world, ya know?
i figure by 27-28ish ill have my own biz. successful? we'll see.
