i've got:

about 10-15 no seatbelt tickets

1 Speeding (49 in a 35)

1 Careless Driving

the seatbelt tickets are my own little trick. See whenever i get pulled over for speeding i wait till the cop stands up out of his car and then i deliberately reach over to my seatbelt and slowly remove it. He watches me and comes up to the window, i BS with him a bit, he comes back and goes "i notice you werent wearing your seatbelt, have a good day" and hands me a seatbelt ticket. So far it's worked every time .

Oh and another great thing that's prevented me from speeding tickets is my job as a pizza delivery guy to get me thru school. I have a nice shirt and a pizza bag with me, the pizza place has cops in and out of it all day. They see the shirt and the bag, i say im on delivery, they say okay well i guess i'll see ya later and off i go .

The careless driving was when i slid on ice and got demolished by a ford explorer in oncoming traffic. So not my fault that an ice patch was there but it was in oakland nj and they still work on the quota system so me and the ford got tickets for careless driving, which i found funny.

Whats the deal with speeding tickets in the US anyway? Do you have a demerit point system and monetary fines, or is it just money fines and you can rack up as many as you're willing to pay?

Its a point system. In NYS 12 points and you are done.

Thanks to the wonder of plea bargaining I still have a license.

Teknics, I'm half tempted to try that if I ever get pulled over again.

We have a 12 demerit point system and money fines over here. On long weekends, the demerit points are doubled. If you get caught doing 0-9km/h over its $50 with 0 points, 10 - 19km/h its $100 with 1 point, 20 - 29km/h its $150 with 3 points, 30-39km/h its $250 with 4 points (i think). If your going faster than that, its like 6 points plus a reckless driving charge plus $600 or something. (Thats AUS$ BTW)

It's all up to the states here in the US. In Oklahoma, It's 2 for speeding, I think 3 for careless, 5 for reckless, and various points for all the other things I haven't been busted. Oh yeah, 10 points and you lose it. The beauty of it is that (at least in OK), if it's 10 mph over or less, it doesn't go on insurance or count as points. My first 3 were all for 10 over (got knocked down to that at least) and my careless was originally jailtime. Well, it would've been, I was racing a guy doing 110 in a 40 across a bridge. Cops pulled guns and handcuffed us and everything. Good thing my pockets were tight. When they frisked me, the cop felt something small in my pocket, but couldn't get his fat hand in there, so he just ignored it, and kept going. Since then, I quit doing drugs after almost having a heart attack. Anyways, my insurance hasn't gone up a dime. And as long as they don't find out too much of the stuff I've done, I won't get dropped either.

We have three stages of reckless driving charges. I think it goes careless driving, then reckless driving, then dangerous driving, all with different consequences. I think reckless is loss of license for a year and dangerous is jailtime.

I've only had 2 speeding fines, one for 88 in a 60 which was $150 and 3 points and 88 in a 70, which was $100 and 1 point. That was about 2 or 3 years ago though.

if you do try it note some key elements i have learned from being pulled over and from studying what happens when others get pulled over. Not all these elements may be needed but i find they're great general guidelines:

A) Never attempt on a State Trooper or your county's Sheriff cars, not only will you get the speeding ticket but they'll also ADD ON the seatbelt ticket and then you're out ~$42 for no reason

B) Never attempt it when you get busted in a speed trap. If you've been setup by the cops by using a trap chances are they've already had the trick attempted or are really eager to write speeding tickets, if you feel you wanna chance it figuring that the guy maybe was only there for a little bit it does sometimes work in traps, i've seen it go both ways.

C) Never question the seatbelt ticket

D) never question what happened to the reason you go pulled over

E) BS with him, and never hand over all your info until you've been given a chance to at least say "im sorry sir but i didn't even know" or your line of choiuce, and make sure you agree with him, and criticize yourself. Ex: I got pulled over doing 85 in a 45 around a corner, cop pulled me over when he asked if i knew how dangerous it was i prompted up with the fact that i endanger myself and everyone else because SUVs are prone to rollovers and the conditions were slightly wet...etc. I'm really good at the kind of BS which also helps .

F) This may be hard for some of you, but I've adapted to being able to do it, take on a scared look, sound, and demeanor. I add a high pitch to my voice, shake my hands slightly while giving him the information and only hold eye contact long enough for him to know im not messed up, then i lower my head in shame. Also NEVER end the act when he leaves your vehicle, in the off chance they watch you when they sit down you'd rathe rhave them see you with your head down shaking your head then seeing you dancing to the music, then they feel your emotions are genuine.

G) Never mention the fact you took your seatbelt off, they have to notice it or else it won't work

H) THANK THEM if it works, tell them they won't see you do something like that again, and stuff like that. So next time if you do get pulled over they'll at least remember you thanking them, i got pulled over 3 times in a matter of like 3-4 hours by the same cop, all 3 for speeding. Walked away with 3 seatbelt tickets, the cop was either generous or liked my idea, he remembered me too cause we would continue conversations from the previous pull over.

I) DON'T be the ***** "rich white guy" who gets out of the car to talk to the officer. Keep your hands folded in your lap and don't make sudden movements. Turn the radio off, put out the cigs, turn off the car but leave your lights on if at night, have your info readily available, and until he asks for it sit there with your hands in your lap.

I prolly have a few more but most of them are a force of habit, as soon as i get pulled over i go into "cop mode" and zone out everything except the cop and me, oh and make sure your friends sit tight and shut up, cops hate talking in the background makes them feel unsafe.

Oh one time i forgot to mention that this worked was a really bad one. In oakland after 12am and until like 6am i believe, they turn this one major 4-way traffic light into a blinking light, red-blinking in two ways, yellow in the others. Well I thought my side was the one with the yellow, never actually looked, and decided to fly through it doing 55 in a 35, then ran a stop sign at the next corner and failed to use my blinker at same corner..... I THEN notice the cop behind me and knew i was beat so i pulled over seconds before his lights went on. He came out rather fumed, I explained that I had a bad night, i left a party where people were drinking becaus ei didn't want to be a part of it etc painted a nice pic of myself for him. In the end i walked out with a $42 seatbelt ticket, and have since then always used the method .

Never tried it out of state though lol.

oh and a key feature to the seatbelt trick, in NJ they're attempting to make it a 2-point ticket, but don't see it happening in the near-future, if it does happen then the next method will be my front license plate trick, same way as a seatbelt only cops have to actually look harder haha, and it's an extra $2 in my town.

edit: also the seatbelt trick has ALWAYS worked when i used it, I've only seen it fail 2 times and once was my friend trying it on a Passaic County Sheriff vehicle, and the other was on a State Trooper on the highway.

However i've only seen it used once ON A HIGHWAY, and that time was the trooper in which he got a speeding and seatbelt ticket (which i laughed about, but then offered to pay the fine since it was sort of like my experiment). Funny thing is though i NEVER thought troopers could even give seatbelt things, always figure dit was left for the pettier officers, guess that was wrong. Guess it gives me a reason to go flying around the highway haha.

I'm 28 and I just happen to have a copy of my driving record here....

1 Failure to drive on road in designated lane

7 speeding

1 negligent driving

1 reckless driving in virginia that somehow never showed up

1 speeding in NY that never showed up

1 tail light broken in NY that never showed up

And those are just my convictions.... I have another 4 or 5 speeding tickets that I got out of one way or another.

0 accidents.

ZERO. So F the speeding ticket system, it's a crock anyhow.

My mom has NEVER gotten a speeding ticket in almost 40 years of driving and she's totalled 3 cars.

My sister has racked up a couple of tickets, only one very minor accident when she was 16 driving in snow for the first time.

My dad has gotten plenty of tickets, never had an accident that I know of in 40 years of driving.

Obviously this is a great system. hhaha.
