Well I was zoned out, so I pondered things a bit. For example, The only guaranteed constant is inconsistancy itself.

and

Putting the past "behind you" is merely a method of ensuring no lessons were learned from your mistakes, don't dwell on it, but remember it, learn from it every incident, because every event in our life shapes who we are and alters some portion of our psyche.

Are we born with pre-dispositions, do events, people, conditions effect the development of those pre-dispositions.

Never dwell on the fact that if certain events hd not taken place or certain decisions been different where you would be, but where they put you and where you are going from there.

Ok I think that's all I really thought about in my 2 hour class. It's just a bunch of jibberish and prolly makes no sense to anyone.

phinsup 06-02-2003 06:59 PM

and yes many of you are prolly going to try to send me away to a home for a little while, but that's fine with me.

i get the rubber room!

i swear someone famous said both those things before, they sound so familiar, but good points nonetheless.

No I doubt it, I think it's just things that rattle around my head when I zone out. Three are plenty of other things but I don't want to share them cause you'll all have me commited and what not.

phinsup 06-02-2003 07:03 PM

Maybe the inconsistant thing I dunno, I be a little worried if someone else said the second, especially if it were the same person, maybe I share some freakish connection with them or something.

phinsup 06-02-2003 07:08 PM

For a brief period I pondered the role that society plays on our developing of self. For example we can eat cows, chickens, goats, etc.. but not dogs, cats, horses, etc... This is because society finds that behavior unacceptible or is it?

phinsup 06-02-2003 07:12 PM

of course that's a pretty simplistic way of describing my thoughts on the society issue, but it makes some sense to me so that is why I mention it.

phinsup 06-02-2003 07:15 PM

then I wondered how television factors into all this society shaping self issue. I mean it must have some impact, advertising works... right? I mean being able to separate fact form fiction should be a skill all people possess, but it's gotten a little muddied.

I mean when there was no tv we didn't see half naked chicas running around enjoying the doggy style and giving their man a good blowjob, or maybe they did and they just didn't talk about it, either way tv has had some effect on numbing our senses to the temptations of the flesh.

phinsup 06-02-2003 07:22 PM

ha ha oh yea I almost forgot, I met this guy, apparently went to highschool with him, talked to him for about 20 mins in the starbucks, he knew my name and everything, i honestly don't know if I have ever met the dude.

teknics 06-02-2003 07:25 PM

"and welcome to the phins channel, all day and all night of phins philosophies"

you should write a book my man, it'd be a damn bit better then the anti-porn guy.

kevin.

treceb 06-02-2003 07:25 PM

lol, hes a commie forum spy...

phinsup 06-02-2003 07:26 PM

ha ha anti porn guy. I didn't say there was anything wrong with the effect of the tv on society, just that it admitidly must have some effect.

phinsup 06-02-2003 07:29 PM

Anyhow, these aren't really opinions, nor do i really have any insight, that's prolly why I was pondering them, they are certainly open for discussion.

Leetheslacker 06-02-2003 08:30 PM

Damn,

When i zone out i dont think of anything or just little simple things,,,

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

phinsup 06-02-2003 08:44 PM

Well these are fairly simple thoughts, I mean they are nothing like my in depth thoughts about taking over the world and making everyone dress in kilts, that's in depth j/k

teknics 06-02-2003 08:54 PM

oh yea think about this (this is what i ponder when dead bored):

what happens after you die, particularly if there is no afterlife.

for some reaosn whenever my brain tries to comprehend complete non-existence. no knowledge of what is going on in the world, just a blackout in which you never awaken, i just get confused and am forced to take a nap. i mean understanding it is one thing but imagining how it feels is just eery.

j9fd3s 06-02-2003 09:06 PM

ok phins i got one for ya'. you, what you think of your personality, is just a chemical reaction.

mike

phinsup 06-02-2003 09:10 PM

What one person thinks of their own personality is chemcial reaction? To what chemical, what is it produced by, what stimulates it, what do different levels of the chemicals do.

NO! It's because the damn dogs, cats and horses have brainwashed us into thinking that cows, fish and chicken taste better, even though they don't. Dogs and cats are the tastiest things out there, man, but they won't turn off the mind control thing long enough for anyone to find out. You know when like your cat is just sitting there staring at you, man? That's what they're doing! They're playing with your mind! And the worst part is that....

Huh?

Oh wait. Hold on. I gotta go cook another steak for my cat...

well i would bet that we eat the animals we eat because at some point they were the safest. its the same reason some cultures wipe with the left hand and eat with the right, it was more sanitary.

my favorite question to always ponder is if we really have free will or not.

as a catholic, i was raised to believe that god is omniscient. however, i was also taught that i have free will. it doesn't add up to me how it can be known what i will do before i do it, and still be making a choice.https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

oh well, it kills time

wow kinda sounds like the matrix?? j/k

i know the feeling. It really ties into your belief in fate. I have thought on this topic and have a hard time believing in it.

Leetheslacker 06-02-2003 10:16 PM

I dont like religion, but it doesnt mean i dont believe in something. Most of it seems like a scam or plot to me.... Like if i do so and so its a sin and im going to hell.... I've seen how much people put in those donation plates and its SCARY. At one time ive seen many people put in $400 checks into that mofo, including some of my family. Mostly that turns into what i ponder sometimes, and then i ponder how obvious it seems that the meaning of life itself is to reproduce and keep your race going, and everything else is kinda on the side....... And everything i ponder ties together and then i really space out and go blank...

Also over religious people are douchebags.

My mom is OVER religious and it annoys the **** outta me, but atleast she doesnt shove it down my throat. Sometimes she tries but i ignore it.

rfreeman27 06-02-2003 10:23 PM

the thing that i HATE about going to church is the donations. Every focking time the minister talkes about how you should give 10% of your salary (tithe i think?) to the church. It gets really really annoying.

teknics 06-02-2003 10:27 PM

atheism.

j9fd3s 06-02-2003 10:29 PM

i was reading about the crusades (here) and they were started as a way for the pope, a) to get rid of his enimies and b) to get rid of potential challengers
