Anyone want to bet that they will pick Ben Bernanke? I rarely take notice of the Nobel prize, since there was such a hooha over obama winning I decided to take a look at the past winners. It would appear that since the economics category appeared, in the late 60's the award for Peace and Economics have pretty been a joke. Lots of political leaders and do nothings. In fact Kissinger and Milton Friedman were given the awards at the very time they were supporting dictatorships and coups in south america, the only thing more fitting of the award at that time would have been Pinnochet himself getting the prize. Riddle further with political wannabees and deadbeats, that attempted to do something and really did next to nothing, after giving the list some good digging it's really no surprise at all that Obama was nominated only a few days after entering office. He joins a list of many figures that said they would do a lot of things and did very few of them and yet still "got the prize'.





So I figured Monday they announce Ben Bernanke is a winner in the economy category, it would make sense after all he's managed to save us all from the horrible economy and the only casualty is the US Dollar, seems like a hero to me!!!

I was more figuring John Holdren for again saving the planet from us.

it's gonna be bernanke, gotta be, either that or someone from the Chicago School of economics, another tip of the hat to friedman.

The Obama awarding is interesting, its a policy forcer, more than an award now. They have basically painted him into a corner now when it comes to Iraq and Afghanistan. I mean being a peace prize winner, he is going to have hard time supporting existing and future combat operations and living up to his newly pasted label.

Not really, the rest of them on that list went upon their business.

But some of the priors contradictory actions, was water under the bridge when the award was given, sometimes a small change of ways in a singular direction rather than a whole ideological wholesale flipping. The difference with Obama, he now has to live up to in all directions, since he has actually yet to do anything.

It has different weighting on ones actions if they receive at the beginning of ones mandate rather than 7/8 through it. Its the difference between proven and yet to prove.

In some categories, a dog could win it for fetching a stick by the looks of it.

Yea it's pretty bad.
