Bathfitter wants $1,100, ridiculous. I think I'm just going to get a new tub, I can get a new jacuzzi tub for a lot less than that. Don't think I'm going to do the whole bathroom, I don't like a whole lot of debt. But I'm sure I'll change my mind a bunch of times before I actually do anything.

You prolly have to rip out the drywall around the tub, when I did it we put the concrete board in.

I seriously doubt the existing tile will come out without destroying the whats behind it. But if its sheetrock, you can get away with just using green sheetrock(water resistant), and tiling over that. But a lot of tile guys still want to use the concrete backer board.

As for the tub, even the steel ones arent that bad to get out. A sawzall and a good metal blade and it should be fine. Just cut it across the middle. Im remodeling 60 hotel rooms at the moment, and today me and 2 other guys pulled 20 fiberglass tubs and 24 vanities in about 6 hours. Steel is a little harder to cut, but I see no reason you couldnt pull your tub in a good half day.

I'm just gonna destroy the tile that's covering the lip of the tub, the part that extends upward. Keep the rest of the tile, keep the green board or whatever the hell is back there. Install the new tub, and lay a solid color tile that matches what's there already.

****'s breaking left and right. I also just replaced a tub faucet in another bathroom, the shower switch thingy stopped working on the old one. No sweat, easy process. Install the new one, take shower, no problem. Wife takes shower, turns out water's leaking out the back of it. Shitty faucet, guess I oughtta spend some money on a better one. No shower in the morning (well, I could use the 3rd bathroom, but there's no shower curtain, no flooring, no sink...kind of suspended work in progress).

Also today my xbox got the 3 red lights of doom, for the second time. The first one and this one both lasted over a year, thought I might have gotten lucky, guess not. Sucks.

Moved in the DVD player from the other room to watch a movie, couldn't get that to work either. I guess the video cable decided to crap out, though it worked fine a week ago.

I wanted to go for a bike ride to de-stress, but my week-old flashlight/bike headlight just stopped working as well. Can't ride at night with no light.

sigh.
