most shops do work thats duplicateable with spray paint and a roller.

mike
agreed.

Mazdabation,

I went to a place call showcase auto, a mechanic my dad has gone to for 22 years recommended them to me. His mechanic does all the alignment work on the repaired cars from showcase auto in mississauga, he sees 3 to 4 a day everyday for the past 5 years.

That is why i trusted sh owcase to do the work.

1200 bucks cdn later, i get a car that has the front end realigned (good job there), but they sprayed the front and back bumpers with basic white, they didn't even mix up hte correct white. ******* *** holes,

Next thing i find my boost guage if fucked, a brand new greddy electronic 60mm it looks like the needle got spun all the way around.

then the Air control valve silencer is FUBAR, i hear hiss at anythin gover 2000 rpms.

i should've taken it to carrige house restorations who work on ferraris and porches they wanted 2600 cdn.

I was cheap. Now i regret it... i washopping to have the car done in mississauga, and i didn't have the time to do things myself. NO i have to redo everything.

****.

ROB!!!! why can't u be in toronto? I would pay big dollars to have u fix up my car.

you do know that when you spray only one body panel

without spraying and blending into the adjoining panels it

wont match right?

Especially spraying bumpers only on a 1989 car 14 years later.

You do get what you pay for, a shop that wants to charge you

double is doing it for a reason, not because as S13 says "they suck",

its because to hire good workers, use good materials, and to to do a good job costs time and money.

well for 1200 bucks i didn't expect a miracle. i went to 8 different body shops and got quotes between 1000 to 1600 bucks. (2600 for the place that restored ferraris)

Showcase (the shop) originally quoted 1500, then they said if u pay cash u don't have to pay taxes... fine... so i let them do it...

i bitched and said... that has got to be hte shittiest paint every... i pointed out the orange peel.

I could even see the primer underneth the paint because the paint was so thin.

They said, we can't do any better we were using a down draft booth. Down draft booth my ***, the shop was too lazy to put on another coat.

******* ********...just thinking about them makes me mad...

Rob, i selected you to repaint my entire car next year. I want it as good or even better then the job you did on the vert.

full job takes me over 40 hours to compleate.

if there is really primer showing go and talk to them again, no matter

what you pay thats not right. And as for the orange peel- tell them to

******* wet sand and polish it, but thats useless anyhow if there isnt

enough paint on there. Talk to them calmly, dont yell and scream.

If you still get nowhere I would perhaps report them to the better business bureau, primer showing thru isnt right.

How do I learn to do body work with spray paint and a roller? I covered a hole in my fender with bondo and tried to blend it in by painting and sanding, but it didn't really work right, just kept expanding the sanded/repainted area without blending, even when I went down to 400 grit sandpaper. I didn't have a roller, though, how's that work?
