ive been offered jobs there since 2007, but everytime i send a resume, the guy i'm dealing with gets canned. the first was the ceo, in 2006, he owned a mazda 3, and we chatted with him, and he offered us all jobs (at mazda), then when they finally got the building, he got fired.

the next go round was more recent.

i looked the other day and they were hiriing for that guys job!

so i applied for that too.

my qiestion is, should i just cut to the chase and send my resume right to elon, and hop HE gets fired

phinsup 01-27-2009 01:28 PM

Dude did it ever dawn on you that maybe they are getting fired because they pitch hiring you to the boss?

It's a very exclusive club, you see...

phinsup 01-27-2009 04:59 PM

I can see it now, Mike goes into the office and stands there for a minute, then asks the receptionist "hey why is my photo on that corkboard over there" "SECURITY"

Rob x-7 01-27-2009 06:59 PM

what do they sell

phinsup 01-27-2009 07:13 PM

Surely you've heard of the Tesla roadster?

cymfc3s 01-27-2009 07:24 PM

OoOOOooOoo. Nice! If you get in there, you will have to push for a company car!

Rob x-7 01-27-2009 08:43 PM

yeah, we have tons and tons of them driving around here, sounds like a secure job and one to invest in thier profit sharing program

No it already has, toyota is the number one selling car in the US.

defprun 01-27-2009 11:05 PM

Tesla Roadster is a Lotus Elise that weighs 400lbs more, goes faster but would last one lap of Mosport and than just die on the side of the track before the finish line.

HA HA, no that's GM. Tesla comes with free towing.

Rob x-7 01-28-2009 07:20 AM

I dont think it can happen AGAIN. The market is saturated with cars and dealers. And no one is going to invest in new dealerships for a looooooooooooong time, who is going to bankroll a new car company these days?

The industry is on the verge of a major shakeup. Now is the perfect time for a wealthy group of entrepreneurs to take a fresh idea to the masses. Where most see adversity, the man with vision sees opportunity!

Yea well, I have to agree, people don't have the money to buy new cars that's why GM and the rest of them are going broke. I guess crazier things have happened, hell who thought a people would be buy $25,000 Hyuandai's 10 years ago?

Rob x-7 01-28-2009 11:45 AM

hyundai is now trying to sell them close to $40,000- aint gonna happen.

They should try coming out with a different brand to sell higher priced cars- but that ship has sailed. Things wont be the way they were, probably not in my lifetime anyhow.

Coming out with a different brand means new dealerships and service centers, one of the joys of buying a higher end vehicle is enjoying the better service departments.

phinsup 01-28-2009 11:58 AM

One of the joys of buying higher end vehicles is not having to spend so much time in the service departments LOL

I didn't realize they had a $40k model, one of the ladies amy works with bought the SUV looking thing and she paid around 30k, couldnt believe. You see how horribly those things age? You won't see a whole bunch of 30 year old hyundais running around.

Rob x-7 01-28-2009 12:04 PM

we all need oil changes!

they charge me $29.99 for a oil change, they wash and vacuum the car.

I get to have starbucks coffee in the waiting room, fresh muffins and bagels, I can watch a DVD on my own viewing screen, use thier computers to browse the internet, or spend time in the "quiet" room reading.

Its actually a JOY to get the car serviced.

Last time I said "sometimes the radio gets static- anything you can do about it? You end up thinking of little things for them to check when you get the oil change so you can stay there longer or get a brand new loaner car, lol

My Benz is a 1984, it STILL has road side assistance, you have road side assistance for the life of the car.

While there may happily be cases where it is true, statistically I am certain that it is false. The more you spend on a car, the more time you're going to be in the service department. Granted there is a sweet spot, where you find well-made cars in the middle of a given manufacturer's product lineup, but generally the high-priced luxury makes and models all suffer from a high incidence of repairs, and those repairs are typically expensive.

And regarding Hyundai, I understand they are much improved and quite reliable, at least for the duration of the warranty period.

Rob x-7 01-28-2009 12:22 PM

the problem is the more you spend on a car, the more your expectations are of it being perfect.

By perfect I mean no noises, no nothing.

I have complained about radio static and wind noise in the car- well because there is nothing else to complain about!

Agreed you can't let the price tell you the quality of the car, you still need to research the model, jaguar and land rover are expensive and considered to be the most unreliable vehicles on the road, hell I won't even drive behind one of them cause you never know when parts will fall off or they will explode. That said, look at the same car, but 5 years old, or even two a lot of the cheap ass cars simply do not hold up, they look like ****.

Rob x-7 01-28-2009 12:27 PM

that hyundai has some power too, like 350-375hp? what do they call it? genesis?

funny because they really try to hide its a hyundai, very little badging on that car.

phinsup 01-28-2009 12:28 PM

what model are we discussing here, I need to get up to speed, I'm not plugged in with the mad hyundai scene yo.

Rob x-7 01-28-2009 12:32 PM

really has that Camry/Lexus look huh?

no badges except the "H"

Yea, looks like a Camry, they are even putting some stylish wheels on them. I bet you get all the bitches with that high end ride.

j9fd3s 01-28-2009 12:49 PM

i was working at a hyundai dealership a year ago. they were eagerly awaiting the genesis. although really WTF do they need a 40k 15mpg car for?

as to quality, they are ok. it seems like hyundai looked to mercedes for design inspiration, so compared to mazda, the hyundai is complex.

for example, in the V6 cars the water pump is behind the timing cover, which is one peice and aluminum. so when it starts leaking, the weep hole follows this channel and comes out by the alternator. this is NOT in the shop manual. removal of the timing cover, requires the valve covers to come off and on the sonata, the engine nearly has to come out of the car.

and trying to find a mechanic that knows ANY of that stuff is impossible.

so the cars would come back over and over while we threw parts at it.

that job sucked!

Rob x-7 01-28-2009 01:12 PM

jeez- now imagine out of warranty- **** that

I'd need proof that an "out of warranty" hyundai exists, if it does they should put it in the Korean museum.

My sister bought a new one in 2004 sold it in 2006. She blew the head and had to have it replaced before she sold it though.

OH ****, I be she "drove" it right? That's against the manufacturer recommended product use.

Rob x-7 01-28-2009 01:51 PM

guy who used to work with me comes in one day in a taxi. I ask him where his car is- he tells me his baby momma has it today because her car broke down.

Her Hyundai was like 2 years old, had 14k miles on it. Turns out it needs alternator or thermostat or some crap, I forget.

So he is on the phone with the dealership and they tell him the car is running rough because it needs spark plugs?

A 2 year old car needs spark plugs I ask him? I say maybe it has something to do with the thermostat not being right and the car running rich because I cant see a car needing plugs in so few miles, but regardless I dont offer any other help because I know I will end up being married to this piece of crap car if I offer to change the plugs for him.

Anyhow- he comes in the next day bitching about the bill because the car needed platnium plugs and they tuned the rest of the car up.

He said the car had platnium plugs so they were expensive- alot of good those expensive plugs did him, lol.
