If the tattoist that you are going to is an ARTIST first and a TATTOOIST second, he should be able to draw something up for you of what you like, and it might not be the jersey devil, but most Tattooist can do actual art work.
Good luck, I still have to wait for mine to heal up and get the half sleeve done and over with. Eight months of pure hell!!! Then I go over to the right half sleeve.
And having the woods on fire is just gonna be to confusing in the background. Want the main focus to be on the jersey devil, and the girl(if you deicide to go with it).
What I would do honestly, if you want a really weird and off the wall jersey devil. Get him in a graveyard/cememtary hanging/sitting over a tombstone with his claws imbedded into a human body. I would give it huge amounts of detail, alot of shading, with a moon in the background, throw up a couple of clouds for good measure, put a little bit of woods behind him also. When you get a tattoo, make sure it looks good and tasteful obviously. I get compliments on mine all the time, and I am told all types of things. Even negative things. "Wow, that is some crazy artwork man". "Whoa, talk about detail". Negative things are the haters. Why did you get a spiderweb, that looks so stupid. ******' dicks.
Good luck deciding man.

I hadnt thought of the moon touch. He is an artist first, but my sister wants to design a tattoo that actually gets used, and the guy doing it is fine with that.
I'm going to have a small campfire type deal in the middle. Basically hes going to be holding her in a small clearing near the fire. He'll be standing but hunched over the body in his arms, wings slightly outward but in a relaxed fashion.
The image will actually display a mist of confusion on his part, because his claws and arms will have blood on them, but her body will remain untouched. Her killer or her knight in freaky armor?
Artistic interpretation is the ****, and i think its a cool twist on the idea. The woods will be really dense around him, and i think a full moon with some clouds in the sky will be a nice effect.
