I wouldnt buy unless you are going to rebuild it

or they give you some good gurantee including

the labor on the engine replacement.

You should send it to Kevin at Rotary Resurrection. I hear he does excellent work for reasonable prices.

i dont think its in my best interest financially to spend 2500-3000 on a car that as is i can maybe get 1700 ish and then not be able to get close to 5000 for....if i can spend 1500ish i might be able to get 3500-4000 ish and that just seems to make more sense...if i cant get my money back, i might s well hang onto it and put it towards a third gen.....if i could get any peace of mind with a jspec, that'd be great...and it seems like some have......i just want to make sure tat im one of em and dont know how...it cant just be luck of the draw...how about compression testing before installing...is that not a definite indicator of a healthy enough engine????????

compression is only a peice of the puzzle. you still dont know if it will use oil or coolant

4 months ago, Reese and I installed a GOOD COMPRESSION 13BRE in his 10th AE. < 2 weeks later he was cruising down the interstate (not into BOOST at all) and it lost compression in the rear rotor.
