Had surgery on toe yesterday - trying to take off the bandage. I've hydroproxide(sp) it, and the only part that won't come off is where it was infected from the ingrown toenail. I've been soaking it for the last 20mins, (10 mins each) taking it out, trying to pull off the bandage, and it just won't budge on the side where the operation was.
Any suggestions? Pain severe, sooo..... |
ouch.. sorry.. no suggestion.. ewwww... Maybe just wait..
|
Take off your shirt and bra, turn on webcam, invite us all to a broadcast to look at your breasts while you snatch the bandage from the toe.
In all seriousness, soak it good and keep trying |
PS, I speak from painfull exprience with this. One of my toes gets ingrown ~ever 6 months due to be mangled by a fall with a fire extinguisher. Hence the toenail doesn't grow right, even though it has been removed 6 times
|
Why don't you just leave the friggin bandage on?
|
ewww.. 6 times? Well....... I finally got the fucker off, I just said "**** it" after soaking it for atleast 30mins... closed my eyes, and slowly pealed.
It still hurts. It sucks. Atleast I got some good meds https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png Well.. time to do this twice a day (soaking) for two weeks .. gotta go back to him July 2nd. Day before I leave for El Paso. I didn't expect him to remove *part* of my nail. Blargh. |

It says percisely on the directions sheet. 1. Purchase a tube of Triple Antibiotic Ointment at the over the counter shelf at your drug store. 2. The day after you have your surgery, help loosen and remove bandage with dydrogen peroxide. 3. In a basin with epsom salt and lukewarm water, (approx. 2 tsp. per quart) soak for 10 mins. Use a Q-tip to wipe away any debris. 4. Apply the antibiotic medicine to your toe and cover it with a band-aid after soaking it well. 5. Repeat this process twice daily. It is important to the healing process of your toe. 6. remember to return for your post-op visits. 7. If you have any questions, please contact our office. So there:P |
I hate ingrowns....mine are caused by cutting them too short on the sides, from what I hear. Even my fingernails get ingrown sometimes.

I cut my fingernails really short to keep from getting grease under them. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

The procedure for killing toenails is to treat the naibed with silver iodine, It hasn't worked on my toe yet, I said to hell with it and cut my toe apart every 6 months or so
|
yuck. How do you withstand the pain?

When I crushed my foot I lost a lot of feeling in it. When I initially crushed it the Corpsman used a pair of pliers to snatch off ALL the nails on that foot. That was before the painkillers had set in. I had Ganggreene set in on the second toe and had to have it partially amputated. Yep lots of fun

My Dr used a low grade acid to burn the nailbeds in the corners.
Only needed to do it once @ 10 yrs ago. Been fine ever since. Before going to the Dr, I used to do the "self surgery". It got to the point where I was using a small pair of scissors all the way up the sides. *shivers* I hope never to need to do that again! Raul |
I use a cutoff wheel, works great!
