Brake fade huh??

I am thinking more like driver error. Here is a pic approaching the curve he lost it in.
hmmmm lets see, brake fad usually means you over shoot your curve/fall out of your line ect... not that you miss your turn completely and fly 10 ft high into a tree.

Brake fade is just that, the brakes still function, but not as well as if they were cold. Meaning that he might have entered the corner 10 mph faster than desired

Judging by that pic I'd say he entered the corner about 25-30 mph faster than desired and locked up the brakes and/or hit the dirt that is piled up on the road on the entry to the curve. There might have been brake fade, but ferrari brakes couldn't have saved these guys from the darwins award.

furthermore, they hit the trees when they were sideways. Which is an indication that the car was out of controll and sliding sideways. I don't know about you guys, but the only time my car has come sideways on me at high speed (being that our cars are well balanced) is because of driver error, or brake lockup (which he claims there were not brakes)

I'm starting to think that these guys were driving like retards on a road that they didn't know, racing with a buddy, and someones grandparents came around that curve in their crown vic, and made them swing wide (which at that speed he couldn't control) sending him into the tree. I'm just glad they didn't kill anyone else or this story coudl've turned out differently.

even though the rx-7 has awesome handling, this should be proof for other kids, that it cannot take a 90º turn at 100mph...

I watched that video and it just further reinforces the fact that the driver was not in control. It was not brake fade, I have stood on brakes all the way down the smoky mountains and never seen fade that would induce that kind of response. He hit teh tree 7-8 feet off the ground for crying out loud... It takes a serious amount of speed to launch a 3000 pound car 7-8 feet into the air!

I know this thread should just drop and I should add the disclaimer "I am glad they are ok".

However, I have had wrecks before but I have never jeopardized a friends life. Even if we both had young man's imortallity complex I never drove outside of my limitations or my machines limitations. That wreck is pure disregard and disrespect of limitations all the way around. The average age and maturity level of that forum really comes out in times like these.

Oh and Kevin U R the man

Holy **** I see they get no sympathy from anyone other than TeamFC3S. I understand that Brando probably fucked up by driving too fast and is saying that it was brake fade but it was still an accident. Anytime you speed, take a corner fast, or even street race you are increasing the chance of you getting in some sort of accident.

I am in no way defending them at all. I am just saying that if I was to **** up my car due to my error that you wouldn't "damn me to hell" cause I fucked up a Fc, an A.E non the less.

I drive my car pretty hard but always within the limit of my driving skills. I think he just pushed his car and himself farther than he could handle. I am happy to see that they are not dead and do hope they learned from this.

No you miss the point. He makes it out to be not his fault and that it was brake fade the car failed him.

I would have 10x more respect if he came right out and said right from the beginning that he screwed up and came into the corner too hot and lost control of his car. Instead of a "the sun was in my eyes" excuse.

I saw the vids too he is not a very smooth driver.

We all claim our cars are superior in braking and handling. This guy wrecks and its immediately that the cars brakes suck. That is my only issue w/ the whole thing. I have done open track days and know for a fact that the stock brakes are very capable.

Plus over on Team Brandon and Cozmo could do no wrong its almost sickening to see evryone falling all over each other to pat them on the back. Then to suggest a fund to buy the guy another car. What lesson was learned from that? Hey I can drive beyond my limits and my friends will chip in and buy me another car. Let him fight his way out of this it builds character.

Over here we eat our young.
