Has anyone in here ever sent a large amount of money through paypal? The reason I'm asking is because I just did. I sent the balance due on my car last thursday and it's still "uncleared". And to top it all off, expected clearing date is April 26th, 2004! The money was supposed to have been in the owners hands last thursday ... Damn Paypal

 

Yeah I just ordered my motor with PayPal. I added a credit card to my account to pay it with, and after I specified the credit card it send the payment through billing my debit card.



So that was a pain in the ***.



But it took like a day for the payment to go through.

 

I emailed them last night about this. I just got a reply saying it takes 8 business days (April 26th). I could've sent like 15 money orders by then!

 

If you are taking money from your checking account it can take forever, I've had a bunch of customers do that and be all pissed off a week later when their order hasn't shipped.

 

thats exactly it. whan your primary source of paypal funds is your checking acoount, then you are basically sending the person an elctronic check. which will that 5-10 buisness days to clear.

The best way around that is to plan in advance. Take "x" amount of money from your checking account and transfer it to your paypal balance. This takes only 3 days. Then when you go to buy something, they get the $$ instantly

 

If you use your checking account for the payment, but have a credit card or two for a 'backup', and are verified, the transfers are instant. It takes me less than 24 hours for payments to go to 'completed' status.

 

That sucks ... I should've tranfered the money to my paypal account in advance lol.
