So yea woke up to a blue screen on my laptop, reboot and I get the Beep, beep-beep. OK it's memory, so I pull the stick I bought same ****, pull the stick that came with it from HP, bam it boots. Unfortunately not all the way into xp, it hosed the drive. Luckily I have a backup program that mirror's my drive every night and I was able to get that up quickly. Bought more memory, apparently there are two kinds of 200 pin mem, ddr and ddr2, i bought the wrong one. So i gotta go swap it. Amazing how shitty it runs on only 512.

Brand of mem is nanya, dont waste your time with it.

Why, I remember back when I bought my old house it was built in 19 hundred and sixty and it still had the original damn fridge smack dab sittin' in the blessed kitchen, and it stank a little and dribbled on the floor ever so often, but dammed if the thing didn't still work!

They just don't make 'em like they used to!

How long have you had the lappy for? You might want to check with HP and see if theres a recall of some sort for the memory sticks. Maybe you can get some yummie yummie free memory.

I can't get the desktop to work in anything but safe mode, the ATI video card looks like it took a dump, as I get no display in Windows if I don't use safe mode. Fan wouldn't turn on the card, so my computer limited mind thinks the vid card burned up and died.

Replacing the card hasn't improved much, I suspect Windoze is still looking for the ATI card, and all the instructions I can find for removing the old drivers say to 'uninstall using add/remove programs' but ATI isn't listed!

And the stupid wireless keyboard won't work cause the USB to PS2 adapter is broken and it appears the DVD drive can't find discs anymore!

I hate computers, I really do.
