So I just skimmed through our 3 nationwide sports channels up here, they are currently televising 9 ball billiards, tennis and poker.

One of those is a sport, but painfully boring to watch. No wonder our society is getting so fat. Not only do they think playing cards is a sport, they are willing to spend hours watching others play cards on TV.

It still beats a couple years ago, one of the networks was broadcasting the New York dog show during prime time, during the hockey playoffs.

I do enjoy watching a bit of poker now and then, but I'd much rather have some friends over and play for real. But never for money. I think that might be illegal.

Canadian sports are dangerous.

hockey and lacrosse, someone will hit you with a stick and/or knock your teeth out with their fists.

Curling, well, you still have a stick, and the ice is damn slippery. I imagine there are more than a few split skulls and busted hips.

Broomball (not sure if they still do that), you've got it all, heavy stick swinging around plus running on ice.
