I'm looking into trying to get some sponsors for my car because when its done, I would like to do some shows and what not.

For those of you that know, how would I go about getting a sponsor? Any ideas or info would be helpful...

Make a portfolio for your car. Nothing fancy, maybe just a black binder with pictures of your car. Include information about you and your car, ergo a list of current modifications, a list of future goals or mods, current events and races you participate in or shows if you are building a show car. Offer pictures of your car at said events, and include any time slips in the case of a drag car or road racer; trophies in the case of a show car.

Once your portfolio is complete, contact the Public Relations office of the company(ies) whom you'd like to gain as sponsors. Ask about their current sponsorship program and inform them of your desire to gain their sponsorship and that you'd like to send them a copy of your portfolio.

The more companies you contact, the more likely you are to gain sponsorship.

Also, let them know what kind of sponsorship you are interested in. some companies will supply discounted parts or free parts, some will only offer monetary support, and some will supply sponsored racers with experimental/prototype pieces for field testing. The latter may be the easiest to secure, but the sponsoring company may not offer to fix your car if their prototype part breaks it.

holy crap.....have I just posted two back-to-back replies that were both informative, useful, and completely intArweb speak free?

wow.

If you are looking for help at track events.. PIT crew for some big teams (ie. SCCA, TransAm, etc.) and get to know the owners and drivers... usually that too can get you some sponsership money, and sometimes a driving career.

From their site:

Your card WILL NOT BE CHARGED unless you are awarded a Sponsorship Contract valued at $500 or more.

The $89 fee covers your account set-up for your sponsor pack, agreement and parts delivery. This is a one-time charge only.

If accepted you will receive your sponsorship agreement, sponsor pack and free products within 5-7 days via USPS. Plus, you will get immediate access to your account manager where you can upload pictures, buy car accessories wholesale and get real time reporting on your sponsorships.

So only 89.95 to get sponsered. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!
