i dunno, i dont weld. All i know is they were trying to do something so they cleaned out the tank, let it dry for like 2 weeks or so, videotaped them going to weld it and everything just caught on fire.

I have a welder and it crossed my mind, but I was afraid of explosions. I thought I heard someone say something about water in the tank....but i'd rather not risk it.

 

If you must weld, have the tank boiled out and then place dry ice in it to have a constant inert purge.

doesnt the $200 cover the cost of removing the tank including draining the gas, and installing it again?



at this point just get it welded, the welder is probably charging $30-$50 or so.

 

The labor of having it taken out and put back in is about 120, and I think the shop I called raised their price for me. And as for the leak, it's a crank somethin, on the bottom, and its spraying oil all over the bottom of my engine. Even my right wheel well is covered in it.

Por-15 makes a tank restorer kit. I used it in my 66 ford trucks gas tank and it worked great.

did you actually see the leak bc it sounds like maybe a leak from an oil cooler line or something

yeah. clean the engine bay at a diy car wash, then crank it and watch for the exact place that the oil comes out.
