I would put track tires (R-Compound) on the stock rims since they are already light and small, then get an aftermarket set to put good street tires on (SO3's or something...)...and keep the aftermarket's on all of the time (Even winter, since you won't drive the FD when the snow's falling or on the road anyways) and just take them off for track days/autox events...



I'm doing this with my Mr2 and I plan on having a 2nd set of rims for my Daily Driver as well but for snow tires for the winter.

 

exactly what im doing man. No1 here quite understands common sense sometimes but ya, im NOT going to waste 1k on street tires for the stock wheels again, that would be retarted. Figured I'd might as well get a cheap set of wheels that were 17s for the street and light track usage , and run nice compound tires on the 16 stock wheels

 

OK we dont understand common sense, what is your take on this sentence of yours:



"im not cheaping out on the wheels, im buying these jsut for track usage and winter time"



That to me says "im using these wheels for the track"



Now if youre buying new rims, and ONLY USING THEM FOR THE TRACK AS YOU STATED ABOVE......that would insinuate that youre leaving your stock rims on all the time.
