Just curious, i have like $106 in credits with itunes so i was gonna buy some apps when i gets my new iphoney.

mazdaspeed7 05-15-2009 10:33 PM

I dont have many, and theyre all free, but heres a few recommendations:

darkroom - photo app, uses the accelerometer to ensure you are still before it takes the photo.

Pandora - streaming internet radio

weather channel - I dont really like the yahoo weather that comes on it, this one shows you more detailed info.

Motionx gps - check it out, pretty cool gps app.

phinsup 05-17-2009 05:29 PM

OK i got it upgraded to the OS 3.0 Beta 5, now i'm gonna play around with some of the apps you mentioned.

So far my favorite app is "Black Gold" LOL

oh and i am using the weatherbug for weather, same one i have on the touches.

They skype app is going to be sweet when we are in the bahamas, right now I use my bluetooth headset on my laptop, but it would be nice to use it like a regular phone.

phinsup 05-17-2009 05:34 PM

hells yea the motion gps is sweet

75 Repu 05-17-2009 06:32 PM

pandora is nice once you set up the stations.. There is a app called iboobs i think, try that.

j9fd3s 05-18-2009 03:29 PM

i use the ilevel, and imetronome a lot, flashlight and stopwatch* are handy too, i also have a unit converter. we do a lot of racecar stuff, can you tell?

*FD wanker, 3:30second laps @thunderhill, stock 87 gxl is in the 2:30 range, our honda runs 2:06's...

phinsup 05-18-2009 10:07 PM

yea i've got a different metronome called itick.

75 Repu 05-18-2009 10:47 PM

they also have that program that is like a pocket dyno for the iphone i think..

i dont think apple would let an iboobs in the store, prolly on cydia or something

Baldy 05-20-2009 11:33 AM

I plan on getting an ipod touch within a month, any recommendations for that? Or is it all the same stuff?

phinsup 05-20-2009 03:11 PM

I have 2 touches they are exactly the same as the iPhone without the phone. They are nice it's like buying a little handheld computer you'll love it

teknics 05-20-2009 09:38 PM

i have the dynolicious app, works with the evo, but the 7's burn out first gear too easily to get any realistic readings.

I also have games:

bookworm, bejeweled 2, islots, sol-free, trace, jellycar, random other ones

i HATE weatherbug, the weather channel app is much better, as is AccuWeather

my original iphone is almost ready to retire, updated iphone hardware should arrive in june or july which I'll be going for, g/f has the 3G so i cant just buy that one lol.

kevin.

phinsup 05-20-2009 09:57 PM

i have a fishing game and a game with planes where you land them, i have no idea what they are called and beer has impeded me from remembering.

Good Day

yeah in fact around here they ARE the same, as we have no cell coverage anyways

Baldy 05-22-2009 09:27 AM

A guy won a 32gb touch at his work, didn't want it, had it for sale for $275! He sold it by the time I sent him a pm. :(

I'm told the 3rd gen will be announced in June, and prices for the others should drop, so I suppose I'll wait till that happens.

phinsup 05-22-2009 10:50 AM

i bought both of mine factory refurbs direct from apple, they were like brand new and I saved a bunch. My touches are 1st gens, my iphone is a 3g.

We just got something sweet though, we got an ihome ip99 alarm clock, so I throw my iphone on the alarm clock every night and we can listen to tunes when we hit the sack, also wake up to a playlist.

teknics 05-22-2009 06:52 PM

teknics 05-24-2009 04:20 PM

jailbreaking is alright, but apple's building up info on jailbreakers, they've already documented the foundations of a massive lawsuit... even if it's baseless or never happens i prefer to just avoid it, apple likes to go to court.

it has gotten easier to do but the possibility of bricking it is still there, plus do they even have a full 3g jailbreak yet? i thought they never cracked the baseband on it, or maybe thats just for unlocking another part of the phone. With iphone dev tools your phone is basically jailbroken anyway, you can load and compile apps from you pc right to the phone, no itunes involved.

kevin.

phinsup 05-24-2009 05:26 PM

i had my touches jailbroke, i doubt i'll jailbreak the iphone, plus i'm running 3.0 so i would definitely wait until the final 3.0 is out before i jailbroke.

I only have one bug in 3.0 beta 5 that is pissing me off, the app icons on newly installed apps don't appear.

Yea there is a pwns jailbreak out there for the new firmware. I did mine about a month ago so I could cheat at iMob. Got to lvl 1000 in a few hours. LOL

I don't know. Personally if Apple wants to sue the **** out of some of these guys providing 3rd party apps. I say let them. I don't think it's going to amount to **** and good luck stoping the rising tide of people willing to toy with the device they legally own.

phinsup 05-24-2009 09:11 PM

my point wasn't that it couldn't be jailbroken, but that it would be a pain in the ass every two weeks when the new beta comes out, restore, upgrade, rejailbreak, PITA. i think it would be pretty hard to mount much of a lawsuit, i just haven't jailbroken mine as it pretty much does everything i want.

yea i dont see apple every really doing anything about it, I just like to avoid possible digital legal battles, probably because of the RIAA fear campaigns. I've considered jailbreaking a bunch of times maybe i'll jailbreak my 1g iphone when i have my new one, just to see what its like.

agree, the reason you bought an apple was because its simple and easy...

phinsup 05-26-2009 02:06 PM

yea i mean it does everything i want plus a bit I really dont see the point. I sync with mobile me, so i have my calendar, contacts etc available everywhere.

phinsup 05-26-2009 05:03 PM

LOL yea i love the scheduling, I publish my schedule on the internet so amy can subscribe to it in her ical and view at work, no more "what time do you work tomorrow" or "what time you getting home tonight" stuff

phinsup 05-28-2009 05:18 PM

in my case it would be more like "rob local armory and commission a tank" and the feds would have warning https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

9BASE3 05-28-2009 05:48 PM

My favorites are the level, the compass, and LOL cats. The level is completely useless but fun to play with. The compass - well, I suppose if you're lost and really know how to distinguish terrain features and direction.. could be useful. And LOL Cats? Makes me LOL all damn day. Oh - I like the weather channel app, I-translate, and iCarpark too.

Honestly though, I don't have any I'm really religious about using... except LOL cats. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

phinsup 05-28-2009 05:53 PM

i got the weatherbug for weather, i translate too.

GreyGT-C 05-28-2009 08:23 PM

do they have one called Ilovestrippers ?

I'd get that one....

phinsup 05-28-2009 08:24 PM

Boy you must have been something before electricity.

teknics 05-28-2009 08:25 PM

holy **** look what the cat dragged in!

It doesn't suck.
