F1 drivers are about as fit as you'll find, and it's not to try and justify their paycheck either. You get something like 3 or 4 g's round corners, sustained. And then there's the heat/humidity in those racing suits. I remember an interview with Damon Hill, he said a race in an f1 car is as hard as a marathon - I also remember him being asked was it hard to use the un-servoed brakes, his reply was that the problem due to the g-forces sucking him forward was to lay off the pedal.
