I need a new phone soon.. I want to get a smartphone with high speed internet (maybe GPS, but not a must) and a full qwerty. I currently have ATT and I'd like to keep them, but I'm open to switching if there's enough incentive. Keep in mind I'm anti-iTunes, so the iPhone is basically out of the running.

Suggestions?

yay someone else you hates itunes and the iphone. I take back two of the mean things i said about you last week steve!

I've been with att since 93 when they were Cellular One in seattle, I've had a hard time being convinced to switch, but their service seems to be getting shittier and shittier. Verizon has some nice phones, they do have gps and the new one has touch screen and folds open to a sull keyboard. I dunno if that's what yer lookin for or not. I think you're only option on att at this point is going to be the blackberry like 9base3 mentioned and as far as i know att doesnt offer gps do they?

ive been rocking a blackberry for almost two years now

tough as nails, useful as hell

if it lands in water all you have to do it shut it off (it will still be on) and wipe it off and its good to go

its seriously alot tougher of a phone than it looks.. i wasnt sure how long it would last in a shop but its doing really well.

its well programmed and really practical. its saved my *** a bunch of times from forgetting info or losing info or forgetting to wake up

my iphone rocks, but im considering switching to verizon and getting the new voyager which is the phone scott just described with the gps, touchscreen and flip up full qwerty keypad.

a new iphone is supposively coming in february that will run on the faster 3g network, but as nice as their goggle maps feature is i think id prefer full gps.

I wouldn't need GPS - I have that in both my cars. although, it is a nice feature to use travelling with someone else. The google maps is really nice. I've actually used it LOL.

I got the iphone free so I'm not bitchin, but I think I'd like a blackberry. I dont use the music or anything...

Free iPhone, eh? How'd you swing that? I'm looking at a blackberry curve, I think. I also like the ATT Tilt (HTC TyTN II) and the Pantech Duo, though I haven't heard much about that one.

The other comparison that's important to me is the cost of the service contract- The iPhone has it's own dedicated service. Does the Blackberry service compare in value?

you dirty man *****..

i had a pocket pc for a bit.. it was cool.. i like the flexibility of them since you can get all kinds of add on programs to do pretty much anything you need.. unlike regular phones which are very limited.. the pocket pc i had was an htc apache. big like a brick.. but nice touch screen and keyboard for its time.. i also managed to get a emulator program for it to play gameboy and nintendo games on it..
