This is another one of life's mysteries that I don't understand... could somebody explain it to me?

Why anything, you can't toss a question out that dives into the realm of human nature and expect an easy answer.



Why do you drink alcohol?



Why do you have sex without intentions of propogating the species?



Why do people chew their finger nails?



Why do we seek companionship it others?



There's a million of them, they more a part of your psyche or personality, you can't expect to get the same answer from everyone, nor can you expect a quick answer to the questions that bother you so.

Are you weak for seeking friends, companions, a mate? Where does it stop and end and who determines what is weakness, what is human nature, what is fun for one and not for another?



i could say someone is weak for not persuing their every desire.... not trying new things because it opens them to exposure.

I guess I am somewhat confused as to how the line is drawn? Addiction? So if you have 6 drrinks a week you are not weak, but strong and if you have 7 you are weak? If I gamble $10.00 away I am stud, but $20 I am a weak gambler?



I could roll out a blanket term for any statement I want.



Where does the line between enjoying life and being "weak" start and end. Who drew the line? You? Some non-existant power that be? What did people do before they had no inhibitions, before drugs were illegal, before society dictated the norm? Were they wrong, were they weak? Stupid?



Or do you simply have no faults.... here is one for you, trying to point out faults on others so you don't expose your own.

People have sex, that is just normal. what kinda point was that supposed to make? Humans not only get pleasure out of sex, but it is a way to show affection towards your mate.

That make sno sense it;s contradicting. You are addicted and weak if you smoke, but not if you drink? That's what I am talking about, who drew that line, liquor is addictive, but if you aren't weak?



"mate" they aren't a mate, mate stems from "mating" you aren't mating to propogate the species. church does not "expand" your mind, it narrows it, the desire to fill some void in your self with 1 man's interpretation of a very old book is not expanding your mind, it's narrowing it. Look at what religion breeds into society? hate against other religions, people with different beliefs, how many wars have been fought in the name of religion?



It is impossible to draw a line between recreational and addiction. Some would say if you drink weekly you are an alcoholic, I'll send them all your way next time since you have been chosen to draw the line between addiction and recreation.

Who knows, who gets to decide and furthermore what difference does it make? Why should anyone be judged by their vices or called weak or stupid, shouldn't they be judged by the person they are, their actions towards others, the good or evil they do in life?



Calling someone weak or stupid because they smoke or drink or **** is just as bad as calling them lazy because they are mexican, or cheap because they are jewish. IT's NO DIFFERENT and it's certainly one of the many forms of racism that religions breed.

This was brought up in my summer course for my college class today....



I asked this dude why does he even smoke.... and he's like...



"Well, you're gonna die someday, so what's the use if you smoke or not?"



Or something like that.

i wansn't calling anyone stupid....that wasn't me that said that. i was simply trying to make the point that anyone who becomes dependent on any substance any at all is weak. you can't compair a casual drinker to some one that is an alcoholic.....that is why they are called alcoholics. just like you can't compair someone who has a cigarette once a week at a party a smoker. at no point did i say that because you're a smoker you are a bad person and at no point did i say that becasue you screw or drink you are a bad person. i just said that dependencies are a sign of weakness. now as far as contradicting is concerned you seem to have a very one sided view against religion. don't you find it funny how you'll defend anyone that smokes or drinks, but if they go to church $&#^ em. that doesn't sound very open minded, and i'm sure you have your reasons to feel that way. Grouping religion together like that is just another form of the racism you are so against.

didnt we figure out if you smoke you die sooner but you get to take more time in breaks than the amount you took off your life, so you come out ahead?

well, I think he'd realize the error in his ways when they locked him up, and shove some pills down his throat.

somebody made this topic powerful.... and someone went way to deep into this topic and i think this was supose to be just a simple question and although there really may not be an end to opinions and **** the bottome line is.... DRUGS AND ALCOHOL IS JUST A BIG ******* WASTE OF MONEY... IF I WAS BUYING **** I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO AFFORD SOME OF THE THINGS I HAVE OR THE THINGS I DO. There are all types of reasons why people smoke but don't realize that in the long run or the short run its gonna **** you up . see i have alternatives and hobbies and most people do and my alternative is Cars and every aspect about cars gives me a "Natural High" and keeps me Way the **** Away from drugs and alcohol
