show up with 30 offer him 25. it cant hurt.
the worst that could happen is that youll haggle your way up to 30. If you havent already, show him that youve done your research on the car and that 10K miles on the odometer dont mean jack. it could have overheated, or something, and show no signs of a bad engine now and in 6 months to a year is in need of a new engine. And like everyone said, its better to spend 10 to 15 on a car with a so so engine, and spend the extra 15k or so in mods and new engine.
but, what do i know i dont own an FD. im still to cheap to lay down money on one.

You can buy a brand new Spirit R for almost that much. Although I know they are pricey in the states. If you guy has cash, check to see if it has been rolled back(my experience). Was it garage kept?

I would pass on it! unless you can get it for $25k or less. But i still think it's too much. I think that old man just bought "The fast and the furious" DVD recently! search for other FD's, you should never buy the first car you land on ,you have to try different one's when it comes to rx7's.

If the guy really has a nice big house, and a Ferrari in his garage, whats not to believe about the mileage? A customer of mine has a FACTORY slant nose Porsche in his garage with about 20,000 miles on it, he still has the window sticker for it, cost $99,000 back in 1987 if I remember the year right. Some people only drive thier cars on a recreation/weekend basis. The price is high, so get him down, its WELL worth spending a extra $5000-$8000 or so over one of these 2nd engine-about-to-blow anyhow cars out there with 100,000+ on them. And as for the mileage, digital odometers are VERY easy to get taken care of, if someone REALLY wanted to they could even buy whats needed to do it right over the internet, no need for a new cluster. Some cars the mileage registers in the ECU or the ABS computer as well, but the programs to fix the clusters also fix the ECU's, ABS computers. Digital clusters are 'repaired' for anywhere from $350-$700 or so.

if you were cross-shopping an r34 then why should 35k phase you in the least? i'm broke, so both are out
of my leauge anyways. almost anyone can take the vosko route though. (car loan for 11k fd and visa will
suppy the other 15-20k you need for mods)
if you don't mind my asking how do earn a living? (maybe i'll quit my job and work yours)...
so jealous... even with all my rotary hating i would still love to own an fd...

Ask him if when you buy the car there will be a fine girl licking your ***** while he sucks your PP then mabe you'll give him that much for the car. It sounds too good to be true and too much money for the car. I don't think he'll be selling the car any time soon (to a knowledgeable rotary person) so he might drop the price. :POON:
