Plus they only run on premium. Gotta spend the extra 20-30 cents more per gallon.
Plus they handle so poorly, that they make a Kia Rio look like it oversteers in the corners. Seriously, check the Top Gear test of the "sporty" aspects of the smart.

there are beach towns by me where parking is tough, lots of bars, clubs, restaraunts- one of those is perfect for these areas. Lots of
people are starting to get them for this reason.
To run around town in I think they are perfect, we have this attitude like if it aint gonna run on spit or urine why sacrifice our big cars and suvs, we dont want to turn our thermostats down in the winter because we like to walk around in our shorts and t-shirts- the more we glutton the more they will take advantage of us.

i think its great for a city car, because of parking as rob stated.. parking is a pain in many places here.. would be cool with a diesel.. imagine the torque on the little sucker.. you could do wheelies

They only have a 2-banger, 600cc engine IIRC. It's gonna sound diesel.
they do sound odd. 3 bolt wheels too
someone had a smart car at the track last time, it just looks funny. it loved turn 11 at infineon!

Seriously, the ones around here sound seriously diesel. The trademark diesel sound is more than evident in these things.
you from that place north of the US.. DUH.. we don't get the diesel one.
