I was planning to go and even put in for days off before and after but I'm not sure now.

I could probably swing the gas money down there and even eat a little but the idea of sleeping in a TII doesn't excite me much.

Not sure anymore. I have right now two choices:

1. Go to SS5 and TRY and find a co-driver to go with (will be driving with the MRCCFL caravan)

or

2. NOT go at all, and save the money for my Tii that I might be getting (hopefully) in a few weeks.

Big choices, not enough time. sigh

Believe me: I'd love to go; but I'll just be too busy. If things work out ok then I'll definitely be there next year with my car. I may even drive down to LA at the end of next month to pick up two motors. If I do I'll let you know.

Thumbs up

FYI, SevenStock was started as the first official event and kickoff of the Southern California RX-7 Club. At the time (appr. 5+ years ago) we were probably the smallest RX-7 Club ever (less than 15 cars), not to mention the only SoCal chapter. Needless to say the event grew as did the club and our 3rd. gathering caught the ear of the Mazda R&D guys. On a whim they threw out the idea of possibly having the next one at the MNAO R&D facility in Irvine, CA. After tons of effort and $$$, the event dwarfed any other SoCal7 meeting, not to mention any other Rotary convention (3000+ people)! SevenStock is not an official Mazda activity nor do they sponsor it, but rather a SoCal7s Annual BBQ that has grown into a virtual creme de la creme of RX-7 and Rotary events. I would encourage everyone that has the means to attend to go for it! It is truly an amazing experience. If you want more info go to the http://www.sevenstock.org website and have a look for yourself.

Well theres alot of East Coast guys here...

If I personally was gonna throw an event like this ..

I would rent out a drag strip for a day....

Entrance is a small fee...maybe $10. and about $5 more to race..

Unlimited runs..for time slips or bragging rights..etc...1/4 preffered..

Food, cold drinks..and maybe other things for entertainment..

I have alot of friends who can cook up some ****..We can rent one of them bar b Qs on a trailer and put it to work..I got friends who DJ and I dont think would mind to DJ for free for a day or less...

Sound like a plan?maybe next year...Let me see how many RX7/Rotary people we see are deticated and will help do this..Sounds like a good idea..and Nice way to meet people ..

Show what you brung..or Run what you brung...

how would you manage to keep admission so low? renting a drag strip for the day would not be cheap

They do it all the time at Lakeland Drag Strip...BUT its a 1/8 track...they rent Saturdays and Sundays out..most of the time to get into Lakeland..on a non special event is only $10.

ALSO theres a local racing forum ..and they rent out the 1/4 track for a day and they charge people $25 to get in and race..It dont seem bad..
