Crab apples are the little ones
You've never seen them? They're pretty good in harsh climates, short growing seasons so maybe you wouldn't. Horse apples are also referred to as road apples, but generally only country folk see those. |

Braburn and Gala apples are the best, most flavorful. In these kinds you can tell if there grainy by how firm they are. They should be firm so if you firmly press it dosn't make and impression but you can feel a little give means that they are ripe and not grainy if they push in a bit - slightly soft then they are grainy.
