I hate flags!

 

The difference is that Pennis State claims all this seperation of church and state. That's why we don't get any religious holidays off, not easter, passover, ash wedsneday, or any other religious date. When they preach all of this seperation then deliberately pull the flags down, when A PROMINENT CATHOLIC LEADER dies, then they are doing exactly what they say they don't condone. If Pennis State can't stick to one ******* principle, one ******* idea that they preach, than how can they be trusted to stick to anything they say?

IMO, there's a big difference between showing a little respect to the Pope and shoving religious doctrine down your throat. This is not a "church and state" issue. I agree with the people who have said that the same would be done for any prominent leader. It's not the Pope's fault that more people know about him than the prime minister of Outer Bumfukya.



As a young man pursuing an education, there are lots of things you can and should get pissed off about. This damn sure isn't one of them.

 

If the pope had no ties to the catholic religion and he was only a leader of a country barely the size of a couple city blocks, nothing would have happened. The flags were raised because the pope is directly linked and believed to be the head of the catholic religion. By lowering the flags penn state is showing that they are showing respect for the leader of the catholic religion. When they preach all day about seperation of church and state. Which is more important USG, ARHS, or any other organization on campus with all of their mock drama about who said what, what they meant when they said this, and all the other bull **** drama that is started about nothing, or an issue that is debated every day in this country? Hmmm seems like I'm choosing something a little more important than whose got their panties in a wad today in the student governments. I make my decisions on what I should have an opinion on, and what I should debate, I don't need anyone trying to tell me what [SIZE=14]I [SIZE=1]should be involved in

Exactly, you have no ******* response, because I choose my battles, and I've choosen to get involved with a topic that isn't the usual hyped up drama of a college student. They have deliberately gone against what they preach, and it is a topic that the nation deals with every day. You all a free to believe whomever you like, especially if they lie and go behind your back everyday, because as we all know, excpetions should always be made when it comes to religion. ha.

I must correct you: This most certainly IS an example of "hyped-up drama".



You certainly have the right to rail against whatever injustice and hypocrisy you see fit. I just hate to see anyone get so worked up over a simple matter of civility.
