I'm sorry, but anyone who helped fell comunism and end the cold war deserves half-masted flags in the US.

Expand your world view beyond the borders of your campus, try and study a little history while you are AT school, and show a little respect to some one who saved your countries *** from bankrupcy through peacefull democracy, and NOT through blowin' shee-it up.

I'm aware that I'm gay, a pinko, un-patriotic, and that I eat babies, so none of those comebacks will hold any water.

I'm sorry if I'm the only one here who can't stand hypocracy. But to me if someone does exactly what they don't condone, then their credibility has been completely lost by me. An institution that says one thing and does an other exactly the opposite does not stand to give itself high credibility, it reflects poorly on the people in power, those below, the decisions they make. This reflects on me, because my transcript will say penn state on it, I didn't come here for their inability to stick to the decisions they make, I didn't come here to have my own credibility questioned because I went to an institution that can't make up it's mind on the issue of seperation of church and state. THIS REFLECTS POORLY ON ME, because I go to this institution, when my credibility is in question I will do everything to defend it. Penn State made choice to adamently persue seperation of church and state, then they made a choice to respect a religious leader by lowering the flags. When Yasa Arafat died, a prominent political leader who was very involved with what has happened in the past decade in the middle east, no flag stood at half mast. The flags were not lowered for a political leader they were lowered for a religious leader, the exact opposite of what penn state preaches on the subject of seperation of church and state.

If you get your hackles up every time a little hypocrisy crosses your path, you'll be dead of a stroke by the time you're 25. It's not a bad thing to go off like a .44 magnum once in a while, but it's always better if you're aimed in the right direction.

Peace be unto you. I'll see you in church.

I don't get ruffled by every act of hypocricy but this negatively effects upon me and the institution I go to. That's why it is such a big deal to me.

Trust me, this scenario will never happen:

Job interviewer: So, Mr. Hand, where did you go to college?

G2G: Penn State, sir!

Job Interviewer: Penn State??????!!!! Isn't that the crapass institution that lowered their flags for that bastard, the Pope? Get the **** outta my office and don't let the door hit ya in the ***!

Nope, not gonna happen.

I know, its probably the worst possible thing your university could have done. I know personally on my list of things that would most negatively affect a university's reputation, lowering the flags to half mast when the pope dies is probably number one on my list.

Finally nice to see someone else agree's.

Amen brother hand!@

Maybe there are bigger issues you should worry about, something concrete that actually affects people.

I don't think that a flag being at half mast is going to **** someone's life up and make it worse.
