The guy that went overboard last year was a retard. That boat is shitty and the crew is shitty. I mean... they are good guys, but they are not what you call "money makers". They are a bunch of drunk guys that slack off until the last minute then do everything super unsafe. Like put a green on the rail, or like this year... put him on the hydros.

I know all those guys, and that kid is lucky to be alive right now because his dumb *** thought he could hold a 800lb pot to the side of the boat with one hand. And I've seen much worse than that in the short time I've been doing it. Infact we had one of our most experienced guys go over last year, he was attached to a 2000lb pot (called the anchor pot) via a metal hook on his belt. Now... think of it like this.

40 pots, each pot weighs roughly 800lbs. All connected to eachother through line, spanning about 2 miles long. We fish in the DEEEEEEP water when long lining. Well, 1 pot goes off the back, and its connected to the next pot, which gets violently pulled overboard as the entire string of pots sinks to the bottom.

He got caught on the pot about .0001 second before it went overboard. I watched the entire thing, and he got torn down like a rag doll in a gorilla cage. He was luckily wearing his life vest and the hook bent straight after going down about 20 feet. He came back up, it was foggy, and we lost him ... we turned around and man ... when someone is int he open ocean, even where they are about 10 yards away, you can hardly see them. We were about 200 yard away and I spotted him in an fog break. He went back and picked up him. Now... one thing is, those hooks (the one on his belt that caught the pot) are made to NOT bend at all. I mean, I've seen those hooks under some SERIOUS pressure, and not fail. For some reason, this hook bent completely straight ... and it saved his life. If it hadent, he would have died a horrible horrible death of being crushed under water. Those pots drop FAST.

So, its not something to take lightly, and guys (like the greenhorn that went over) need to know that its not just a title of a job, its serious. And you dont **** around. You have 10 days max to make millions, you do what you need to do and get it done, but be smart.

travis would poke you in the eyeball, then laugh at you and profit off of your misfortune. Then use the money to take your family members on a typical caribbean vacation, sleep with your mother, then convince them to disown you and give me whatever financial security they were holding for you to me.

good luck!

by the way, you might catch me in the '06 gumball rally!

Yes rough seas and swinging cars on dancing a wet surface with a hangmans noose in the area is a lot to handle. And then add 50 deg. water and ice.I think i would just have night mares of getting caught in the pot line...I have.

They dont run trawls when it gets rough here but we also have a month season or more.We just found out when the season opens last night.

Hey post some more pics of the bay and ****.......
