Yeah, I understand.

I've always wanted a bike, but everyone I know tells me I shouldn't.

Not because they're scared of me hurting myself, they're afraid of some idiot in a car not seeing me. Falling off of it yourself, you kinda see it coming. Getting hit by a car, you'd probably never know it.

Just be careful, pay extra attention to everyone else!

I'm a living testament to how motorcyclists are at a real disadvantage out on the streets. Some ******* hit me on the highway and when I woke up a week later from my coma, I realized I had a lot of long-recovery injuries. I also had to face the prospect of living the rest of my life without a left leg. Now I have to put on a goddamn prosthestic anytime I want to do anything.

Here's the kicker..he hauled ***. As in hit-and-run. There was no identifying the fuckstick who shanked me. I guess it's a good thing, though. If I knew who he was...let's just say any chronicle of pain and suffering up to this point would pale in comparison.

I do, however, get the best parking now.

Plus you live in Florida. I had an old 1973 Suzuki GT-750 3-cyl 2-stroke until I moved to Florida. Half the year you deal with old folks who can't see, and the other half you deal with tourists who don't look.

That's why I sold the old beast while living down there. I knew it was just a matter of time...

About three months ago. I was directed past an accident right after it had happened.

Some riced out civic came up around a turn and rear ended a cement mixer truck, Apperently the trough/blade on the back of the cement mixer was down or knocked down and the car had rammed and sorta twisted into it.

All I saw was a body under a white sheet and a round object under a seperate sheet about 5-6 feet away from the body. It was his head. It must of gotten sliced off from the blade of the mixer truck

True story...

I rember being really grossed out the rest of the week over seeing it..

I saw a motorcycle crash this past weekend, the guy looked ok and sitting up with some guy holding his neck straight. Havent seen anything in the paper so my guess is it wasnt too serious. Makes me think twice about that Ducati 996 ive been eying.

I remember reading about your injuries in another thread. Your story, and seeing that crash, are the 2 things that really have me thinking about whether or not I want to keep my bike. It's really fun, and I consider myself a very good driver (alert, good reflexes, etc.), but it only takes once.

Maybe when I have another source of reliable transportation, I'll consider what to do with it. But right now, the bike is the only thing that always works.
