We've figured it out, it's just going to take money ... like everything. Jason has been extremely giving of funds to keep the site up and running. No matter how much traffic we get, he pays the bills to keep things going. I hope everybody realizes that. The easiest way to support Jason and thank him for his support is to click on the RX-7 Store banner at top and buy your parts from him.
I'm bored so I'll give a quick rundown of what we're doing soon. Right now we have this:
Webserver, Dell 2450 - Dual P3 600's, 1 gig ram, 2x18 gig SCSI RAID drives
Database, Dell 2550 - Dual P3 933's, 2 gig ram, 2x36 gig SCSI RAID drives
Simple 2 server setup, we're going to this:
Small undecided 1U server to act as a proxy, loadbalancer, firewall
Pair of 2U servers setup as a load-balanced webserver cluster - single P4 2.4ghz CPU, 1 gig DDR RAM, 2x40 gig drives in RAID 1
Existing database box
And an Iomega A300 NAS to use as a backup solution for all servers
That's a lot of hardware, and it should allow us to grow for quite awhile. We hope to have this up within 2 weeks. When we do it we'll upgrade all the existing servers to Mandrake 9 with all the latest stuff. We've already bought the support necessary to get the Photo Gallery backup when the new hardware is online. We'll also be upgrading our version of vBulletin, which hopefully at the time will be 3.0 which has a TON of new features. Jason has also paid a developer to write us the parts review database page, and a killer registry with all sorts of features .. you'll love it!
Bandwidth will be an issue again soon however, but I'm sure Jason will address that when it happens."
