thanks guys, answers a few q's ok now i understand about why the only major mods for the extreme hp rotarys are a beefy eccentric shaft and some good seals.
on a interesting note just today i saw a triple rotor rx7 race car in a workshop with 480hp / 300lbft naturally aspirated.... guy said comp was 9.44 to 1 and would run on any pump gas. he showed me a dyno chart which had flat torque from 4000-8000rpm and could be street driven if they wanted.

100% n/a. i'm still drooling, i swear
power was upper 9000rpm range don't remember the exact rpm. 11000rpm was the igniton cut-out but there was no redline marker on the tach.
torque sounds like what a 4 litre equivelent piston engine would make in road tune so its not that fantistic (probably cuz of the normal octane). but its just the mad revs.
Um *thinks* i believe he said peripheral ported, they retained some port opening mechanism and a mazdaspeed variable trumpets kit they use in works n/a cars.

400hp and 300lbsft on a peripheral port 20b is about right, it must pull really hard, we'll see what the stock 20b does soon. it gets dynoed on the 21st.
