I have a question in my mind.

Why rotary engine?

Are they better? if yes why they are only in rx7?

Or could you refer me to an www that have the history behind the rotary engine.

I know this question should sound stupid but my father ask me the same question. He is afraid that I will have a bad time with a rotaty engine.

THANKS

RX4

RX5

RX7

RX8

REPU aka rotary pick up

Cosmos

Mazda and other companies have put out rotary engines in cars since back to WWII

Why do you have a pic of someone elses car in your avatar?

Most of us here know the power than can be achieved from a rotary engine..

Plus we like to be diffrent :bigthumg:

They were also in cars made by NSU, and in concept cars from many manufacturers.

They kick ***, that simple. Simple logic:

in a v engine u have pistons going up and down at different angles. Hold up your arm in an L shape so your fist points up, now push your fist up and down for like ten minutes, in the same motion as a V motor.

Now hold your arm straight out to the side and move it in a circular manner, like the way a rotor spins, the way of the rotory is MUCH easier, making them last longer, run harder, and win the heart of anyone who drives it.

One of the main reasons people choose rotary engines over standard piston engines, is quite simply weight, you can get the same or more power out of a 1.3 liter rotary engine as you can out of just about any other car, but with a much smaller engine, and thus much less weight, the smaller size also allows the engine to be pushed further towards the back of the car, thus allowing the car to remain closer to that magical 50-50 weight distribution that is sooo important for the handling characteristics of a car.

And another point, a rotory engine has less moving parts then others simply because its already spinning the right way.

i got a rotary engine because it came in my rx-7. if it had a piston engine, and all aspects of performance were the same, i still would have bought it.
