I just saw a sig that said rotaries invented vtech? Can someone explain it to me, because i always just understood vtech to be a engine with variable valve timing. Since its a "honda" thing i never took time to get into it.

They had a 5/6 port actuator, so when you reached a certain RPM the port opened, and you got a kick in power. But with the port closed you still get some low end driveability.

I get what he means now, i remember reading up on the ports and how they need to be altered when upgrading the car.

It does the exact same thign as Vtech, but the implementation is different due to the design differences of a rotary vs a piston engine.



Both alter the duration and area(or lift), but in a rotary, its accomplished by simply blocking off and opening ports, as opposed to the 3 lobes on the vtech cam.

so "vtech" is a spin off of our precious rotaries.

I said form of vtec, we obviously dont have valves or camshafts...
