It's an operating system. Like the windoze you are currently running on your PC, only it works and it's free. Is the Operating System that this entire website runs on.

Yea, that doesn't surprise me. Anyhow, this wasn't a topic for you to tell me you're satisfied with mediocrousy, I was just stating for those interested that a new full version would be out tomorrow.

Is it really that much better? I thought some programs wouldn't run on linux cuz they are made for windows? Just curious, I have no idea.

Well until recently Linux was mainly a server application. However I use it on pretty much all my boxes now as a desktop environment, it has came a very long way. You can run some windblows programs on linux using wine, however it is easier to download one of the thousands of programs designed for linux, available for free that will accomplish the exact same task ans the winblows app. The newest version probably comes with 1,500 free apps and there are thousands more available.

For example open office will create a MS office document without any issues and it's completely free. Ximian is a free email app that I like much better then Outlook. Red Hat has easily gotten to the point that they are competing with Winblows in the desktop app market and many game manufactures are making games for the Linux OS.

10-4 maybe I'll look into that. I'm ******* tired of getting "fatal error" and "illegal operation" errors and **** locking up, maybe red hat is the answer?
