Its required to prevent the hot exhaust gases from one rotor chamber blowing into the other. However, due to its thickness, I wonder how long it will last at those extremely high rotary temperatures.
Will it fatigue, crack off (eventually) & get blown out the exhaust or will a exhaust pulse blow it into the next rotor chamber (with distasterous results). I sure hope Mazda have thought that one through...............
