to futher answer your question- 16" width rims and 3.5" width rims are not street legal. Those are drag racing rims and do not carry DOT certification.

aite aite. i've confoosed you gentlemen too.

the street illegal mystery was solved, when i took a closer look at tire sizes.

HOWEVER, there are a set of perfectly normal 17x7 wheels, recommended by sports compact car magazine, that i looked into. THOSE say FWD only. its a regular set of 4 wheels all 17x7, but for some reason say: only for FWD.

http://www.centerlinewheels.com/w_catalog/...g/features.html

the very last set of wheels 'impulse'

the site doesnt say the size (?) but my magazine says they are 17x7

so why would those normal 17x7 wheels be FWD only?

btw, thanks for your replies. its a learning process =D

What car would these go on. If it's an FD I'd use wider rims.

yes, lucky for us the offset is VERY common so there is alot of choices of

rims. Thats why its hard to find a deep dish rim on a RX-7, main reason

I choose my rims is because they have a full 2" lip but they are FWD rims.

I'll never go for a wheel without an at least 2 inch lip.
