i've been doing some on-line searchin for some nice rims, but came across 'race wheels' that are not street legal (so says the site)

i dont see much difference and cant figure out why a set of wheels wouldnt be street legal. bah, i kno its a trivial question, and i kno someone is gonna have a really simple answer, but i just want to kno =D

oh another thing: front wheel drive wheels? i came across wheels that are for "FWD". again, wut is the difference?

I'm asuming those would only go on 2 of your

wheels for the fwd

Why would wheels be not street legal though?

Mabe there too light.

How much do they weigh?

the FWD wheels are a set of 4. all identical. thas why i cant imagine why it'd only be for FWD.

and upon closer inspection, the non-legal ones, are probably illegal cuz they come in weird sizes: 15x3.5

16x16, 17x2.5 to list a few odd sizes.

Weight matters. If you to go TireRack or anywhere else, they'll sak for your Make and Model for a reason. What page did you see these "Race Wheels"?

LOL, DUH, you try and fit a 16x16 wheel under the fender and I'll pay for it. So just think, a wheel with a 3.5" width has no chance of keeping you on the road. There is a certain amount of thread that has to touch the ground. Those wheels are obviously for funny cars and top fuel drag racers, etc.

Let me try this again, and ask all the questions you need, it's OK. Ever watch funny cars, John Force and the Jeg's Crew, their cars don't use much of the front wheels. The front's would usually be 17x3.5" and the rears about 16x16", get it?

FWD rims have a different offset then RWD rims, RX-7s take whats considered to be FWD rim offsets, so if you see a rim you like that says FWD you are in luck because RWD rims wont fit on a RX-7

FWD rims are not rims that are skinny that go up front.
