ok.. tried playing /w the shutter speed and shiet.. but I can't get it to work... what settings are you using?

Are you using the "S" setting?
"S" is for shutter priority, or exposure time, "A" is for aperture (f-stop), controls the amout of light entering in the camera. Use "M", which is manual mode and tweak the f-stop and shutter speed until you get the desired effect. Take a bunch of shots using different setting then use an EXIF viewer (EXIF viewer lets you read the settings that were used on a picture, there are free versions available) when you DL the pics to your 'puter to take note of settings that you like. Try my suggested setting and work from there.

My wife wants to get a digital camera.

I have a Minolta SRT-201 right now.... built around 1970. Takes great pics as long as you want them in a photo album, not on the internet.

if you plan on using that for candid and spy type shots... be aware that the thing has no flash. so no upskirt or "look who im *******" type of pictures. there is a new carema out that is the size of a keychain, and fairly expensive, but i forgot the name, i think its made by kyocera

Actually, I just wanted it for all those time I see something funny or weird, but never seem to have a camera with me.

Actually, pretty much the same uses as a camera phone, with the higher price associated with the camera phone.
