Gonna need one hell of a backpack to make the xbox 360 portable.
Get a Game Boy Advance SP, I rarely use mine, but when I do use it, it passes the time nicely, and there are a **** load of games out. And tons of re-released classis NES games.

Josh:
I'd recommend dropping the cash on a good cell phone. For what you're spending, you could get a hella decent phone. I have the Sony Erection s710a, and Krystal'll have Samsung A800 by the end of the week. These are great convergence devices; 3d gaming (PSone quality graphics) internet, email, news, weather, video and still camera (1.3 megapixel on mine, 2.0 megapixel on hers) MP3 player, movie player, and you can also call hookers with the handy voice function. Think total package here. Why limit yourself?

My dear God, what are you saying? My wife and I got two nice Nokia camera phones for $100. total when we switched to T-Mobile. Open an online brokerage account and plan for the future!

It dependa on what kind of gamer you are...
PSP is awesone if you're around someone else that has one around... ad-hoc wifi multiplayer, and most of the games support it. Means as long as you're within 50ft of each other, you play together. Coded Arms is a nice FPS, its not really revolutionary but it is pretty cool as to what you can fit on the damned thing.. physics and all. Graphics are slightly better than PS1, but when you're that close you don't really notice it unless you really look for it. The screen is also AMAZINGLY sharp and clear.
As for the movies, you can also watch anything in .mp4 format. Meaning, any movie you have on your computer (IE, rip your own DVDs) you can re-encode into mp4 using DivX or whatever and bring it with you.
If you're really just looking for portable non-interactive content, like videos and mp3s, just get the video ipod.

from the gamer perspective:
sorry, psp blows if you want an experience unique from the ps2, because 98% of all games on it is stuff you can currently buy for ps2.
burnout? on ps2
GTA? new story, new missions and few other changes, but its essentially the same game you played three times on ps2
madden? ps2
tiger woods golf? ps2
midnight club? ps2
dead to rights? ps2
mvp baseball? ps2
nfl street? ps2
nba? ps2
wipeout? ps2
tony hawk? ps2
AND, with the exception of Metal Gear Acid and Lumines (and some upcoming titles), most original games blow anyway (Death Jr, anyone?)
the psp as it stands in the present time is not a good value.
i'm not biased, i call it as i see it, i bought the nintendo DS.
from the techie pperspective:
its great, you can play games, watch movies (you can convert and compress dvd movies and stick them on a memory card :P), the interface is customisiable
, lots of stuff you can download (emulators et al)), you can browse the net if your next to a wifi hotspot, it has expandable memory (which btw you can get for cheap, **** 80 for the memory card you can pay 80 and get a big one). for all the **** that it does its a great value. but it doesnt do anything great, it just does everything well.
Honestly, I play my DS more than my PSP anyway. Castlevania!
WE HAVE A WINNAH!!!!
im at 99.9%, cant find that last damn secret
