I have a Hitachi widescreen projection TV, 48" or 52", I can't remember. When I watch TV, I can switch it to the normal square aspect ratio, and it puts 2 grey bars for the side panels. When I watch a DVD, I put it on the widescreen aspect ratio. But lately I've noticed that at the edge of where the grey side bars, there is now a line when I watch it on widescreen. Like if the screen is white, the outer edges are lighter than the middle area.

Has anyone else heard of this problem with widescreen projections? This TV is 2 years old.

It sounds like that grey is burned into the screen. Like the reason why you have a screen saver on your computer.

I remember hearing you shouldn't play video games where the background stays the same on a projection TV because they were prone to that.

As for fixing it, you better call Hitachi. Hopefully it's still under warranty.

What sucks is that you can change the side bars to black, but it always switches back to grey whenever it's turned off them back on.

I'll contact them, and Circuit City (where I bought it).

our solution, we're just going to watch regular TV in the widescreen mode. You get used to it after a day, and I've seen where other widescreen TV's make you watch everything in widescreen, so it's not that bad.
