Hey,

Just got an Apexi Power FC and Commander unit for my 93 RX-7 R1. I may have a problem in that my O2 sensor has been permanently disconnected (wire cut) from the car. I am assuming that the Power FC is going to need to get readings from the sensor to configure itself properly (mixture settings).

Is this a correct assumption?

If so, what can I do about it? I don’t think there is enough wire left on the sensor to splice. Where is a good place to buy a new one?

Why might this have been done? It was like this when I got the car. I can think of a much cheaper way to plug a hole in a cat if the sensor wasn’t desired.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx,

Kamikaze

Welcome,

You might want to post this in the ECU section ( the mods will probably move it for you ).

Yep, need the O2 sensor.

Probably Auto Zone, they are pretty cost effective on items like that.

Thanks. I thought so. Kinda new here so I am just learning about the forum. 30 secs after I posted this, I noticed the ECU discussion board. I have already reposted it there.

What about the guys that don't run with cats? I would think there must be some workaround.

I appreciate it.

Yeah they're about 99 bucks at Advance Auto... you really need to get one.

You can shut off the closed loop function with the Power FC, but then your mileage sucks. It has nothing to do with your cats, other than it will help them last longer. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Yeah, but if I remember correctly, the O2 sensor screws right into the first stage cat. Not sure I do though.

Your DP will have a bung hole ( he he hea hee he said "bung hole" ) for the O2 sensor.
