ok, your opinion, but no......maynard, is [like] a GOD, in a musically inspired sort of way. he is by far one of the smartest and most talented singers alive.....
oh, and by the way, i am a HUGE T00L fan, and the title kinda suggests the opposite......do not get me wrong here, i am [one of] their biggest fans.....
i just wonder where people get their opinions of the satanic beliefs.....WTF????? it just goes to show that a small line can hold true to so many things.....
people are sheep.....

On a side note, has you ever heard the song Passenger by the Def Tones off of White Pony? Maynard sings in that song, it's a real good song.

People tend to think that music with a certain sound is satanic... Seriously? I think Brittany Spears is more satanic than Morbid Angel, Slayer, Deicide and all those other bands.... They are just talk. Tool isn't even close. They did a spat that was all german and I swear every bible toting **** I know thought they were quoting the Necronomicon. IT WAS A RECIPE FOR CHOCOLATE CAKE AND CANNIBUS. Good stuff.
Brittany Spears uses sex to sell music. That's more against god than talking about evil ****. Even the Bible quotes Satan. That's worse than most of the "satanic" bands do... they don't even know what the **** they are talking about half the time..

I was just telling my girlfriend about that song last night.

I don't think any band is "Satanic," in what "Christians" intend it to mean. Since Satanists don't even believe in the devil, or God. Satanism is all about how humans are animals and just need to watch out for themselves, which in the light of the Christian idea of helping others may be evil, they don't even believe in Satan. The rituals are all just a show for shock value.
About Tool, I think they are an incredibly talented band, and make amazing music. I just think that Keenan is a tool. No offense to anybody else, I just don't like him.

god was the dream of good government
I dont like tool, I actually think that they suck. Its not my taste, but, they are not satanic in anyway what so ever. "dark" music such as tool, NIN, and most of the same genre affect my mood and depress me. i'm very emotionally affected by music, i still cant figure out why though...i tend to stay away from it because my life is dark and depressing enough. You are right about the jesus freaks out there that still think and "rock 'n' roll" is of the devil.
yes lou your gay for starting this topic

I like tool because I've been educated in music, and they stand above many others with their musical talent. It's refreshing to listen to a rock (and I use that term loosely) band who actually has meter and key variations. I have friends who compose music (for college groups) and they agree that their rhythms and meters are hard to follow, and would be a nightmare on paper (which is a good thing, considering how hard it is to write something that intricate).
Their videos kind of scare me though.

I unfortunately agree with all the people who say they are talented. Personally I don't listen to them (they are still corporate rock looking for all the $$$ in my eyes). As for musical genius...you should deffinitely check out this band called Refused or ALL/Descendents (same band just different singers). Refused is more hardcore/metal/punk/experimental and ALL is rock/punk and has the greatest musicians still alive in their band, including the singer. Anyway check either of them out if you want to hear some good music.

I think the only way you could consider Tool to be satanic would be if you classify all non-catholic (or prodestant, or episcopalian, etc) religions to be satanic.
There seems to be a large mix of religious influences in tool's lyrics, from wiccan, to gnostic, to cabalistic, and including some christian.
just my $.02
