Very cool, I will have some pics up tomorrow, car drove great on the way home, the tack would cut out everytime I would let off the gas. By the time I got home it has completely cut out. Car runs, idles and drives great.

The clutch went in no probs, then we had a problem with the fuel pump which we eventually gave up on tracing down and hard wired it to the ignition.

I swaped all the lock cylinders and the drivers side door handle is still jacked, no time for the stereo, man I am not looking forward to tracking down this tach issue :( I am hoping someone has had a similar problem and can give me some ideas as to where I should start.

Other than the tach everything seems to be great, I am very happy. The car blew a little smoke on the first few runs, I am hoping that will clear out since it has been sitting so long. It runs great so I am not too concerned.

More pics tomorrow after a wash and wax job, got greasy handprints all over..

Oh yea I wanted to add one more thing, bought the fancy pilot bearing removal tool to remove the pilot bearing... well the ******* that put the clutch in did no put one in, so that was a big **** up!

phinsup 07-21-2002 03:15 AM

I should also add the boost guage and the button were not hooked up at all. I am going to t in the boost guage tomorrow, but I have no clue where that button is even supposed to go.

Well, since you're a fan of muff-stanks, go ahead, move to the east coast. Just keep in mind that we're living on the WEST coast.

Twin89Stangs 07-21-2002 04:57 AM

Well if I went east coast it would be the Va beach area....

if I went West coast it would be Laguna Nigel....

I know there is some RX7 clubs and stuff in Va Beach...

I have seen a few of them running around Laguna Nigel also....

Just not sure which i would rather be at...

But the midwest sucks!

turbovr6 07-21-2002 07:01 AM

Yep that be our man Phinsup, always getting dirty but he gets the job done!

He sure as hell taught me a lot about my seven! B)

phinsup 07-21-2002 01:38 PM

If you aren't dirty you didn't work hard...

phinsup 07-21-2002 01:39 PM

On another note, I am going to try to track down this tach issue today. Does anyone know where the switch that is supposed to control the boost is supposed to hooked up? It's a vacuum line to the button...

Hmm I had a tach problem as well. Mine would cut off and on while driving until it finally went out. It didn't work again until I installed the new engine. I believe I had a loose ground that I secured when I put the new engine in. It was a ground that had a weird plastic black rectangle on the end of the wire. It originally connects to the tranny bell housing but I just secured mine to the body of my car. You might also check the power accesory wire at the starter and the overall condition of the connections on the drivers side power harness.. Other than those I don't really know what I did to fix it, but it works fine now. Also, check all the wires and connections to the trailing coil, thats where the tach reads from I think.

I thought that button you have was a remote start button. I had one of those on my camaro in the exact same location as yours.

SoRRoW 07-21-2002 03:18 PM

10 AE only came in white?

Looks good! Glad to here you finally got to drive it even though you had to hot wire the pump. I wish I could have stayed around longer but I had to get up at 4:00 in the morning, ******* A! Now if you guys can just find me an AE.... :bigok:

phinsup 07-21-2002 11:20 PM

That would rock if we found you one.

phinsup 07-21-2002 11:21 PM

When I get back from Mexico, let's do another get together and work on the cars thing. I gotta do the stereo,I have an electric buffer so we could polish them etc.... sound good?

89 Rag 07-21-2002 11:36 PM

Ill make sure I dont miss the next one, even if the sev-e isnt done. Mapquest says its a four hour drive from my spot but im sure there's room for improvement in there, might have to fracture a state statuate or two but..Im in

isamu 07-21-2002 11:37 PM

Yea, that sounds good to me. We could work out the details for a drive/camp at the end of August or early September.

phinsup 07-22-2002 09:54 AM

Yea as soon as you mentioned it I knew exactly what you were talking about. I saw it hanging there and thought to myself better to not hook it up and have something not work then to hook it up incorrectly and screw something up.

Anyhow, I grounded it to the firewall and booom, it works perfectly!

bigtime 07-22-2002 09:57 AM

I think I heard only 1500 has been made?

I only seen one around here ..I think I mistaken it as a Turbo II..I didnt think 10 AE was turbo..
