Photos from Tucson Snow Storm
#1
Last week we had a cold storm roll through Arizona. Elevations about 4,500ft got quite a bit of snow. I drove up Mt Lemmon yesterday, which is about 25 miles from where I live, and snapped a few pictures.
It was hilarious, without fail, jackasses in SUVs were getting stuck all over the place. The main highway was paved, but all the roads off the highway still had at least 2-3 inches of snow and ice on them. Where I decided to drive and park was pretty slick, and not too many people were there, say for about 3 full size 4x4s. Then a truck, and a 2wd 4runner proceeded to embed themselves into side of the snow bank. It was hilarious, I had wait 20 minutes to leave while an F250 pulled the 4runner out, nearly smashing the toyota into a giant boulder.
I dont know what the guy in the 4runner was thinking, even with 4wd, it was slippery as all heck. And once the sun went down behind the mountains, it got really icy. I was wearing tennis shoes, and nearly fell on my *** 3 times just walking back to the car. One of the guys standing around watching all this happen asked me if I needed a push getting out. I just smiled and replied "Ill be ok, thanks!"
Of course the WRX had no problem, even with summer bridgestones. Barely lost any traction climbing back out. Gotta love full time 4wd.
