I'll never forget the ride I took in a friend's 70's vintage Merc with a small inline 6. I think it was a 240. (edit: must have been a 250 sedan) I expected it to be dog slow. Damn thing had twin carbs and was geared pretty low. That little sedan would get up and boogie!

my big green 300sel's crowning achievement was to not only keep up with a then new 05 audi s4, but if the turn continued i could have passed him.... once it straightened out, he had me out gunned though

so your 300sel was better in the turn then the audi, lol

thats funny. When I went to the audi dealer last month I was not impressed at all, one of those cars that somehow look better in photos then they do in person up close.

Up close they look cheap.

Wow. I'm amazed to hear that. I've always felt that the VW/Audi product has always "looked" significantly better than their competition, but it has been a couple years since I've spent much time in showrooms.

when you go from a lexus or a infiniti to a audi you see the difference, the shapes and the feel of the interiors stand out alot

I think the exteriors look decent, but I feel they are a insult with the money they want for them
