Perscription Drugs

i'm under the impression that drugs are more expensive here because they have to be certified by the faa, or fbi or f-something-something.
so when i hear congress wants to buy drugs from canada because they are cheaper i get mad because doesnt that circumvent our own laws? i mean loosen up the drug testing here and the price should come down right?
i just find this dumb, but am i wrong?

Drugs are high priced because of the unbelievable amount of research that goes into developing them, take away the profit from the drug manufacturers my limiting patent time and buying cheaper anything out of country may initially lower the price of drugs here, but in the long run it will eliminate the motivation for drug companies to develop new medications that save our lives or make them more comfortable. You also have to realize that for every on miracle drug a drug company puts out there are prolly a dozen or better that research was spent on and not money taken in.
Bottom line, pay less for drugs, take away motivation to create new ones.

another thing to consider: LAWYERS and LAWSUITS
Take PHEN-FEN for example; initially heralded as THE weight loss combo. Ended up being linked to causing cardiac problems. Lawyers went apeshit. Where do you think the $$$ comes to settle?

just to provide a reference in cost...
we just built a half billion dollar pilot facility..
and this is just one of the many on site required for research...
if people realized the time.. research.. cost .. trials to place a drug in the market...
theyd be more understanding on the reasoning behind the pricing...
it takes years as well before pharms starts to see any profit upon introduction...
some of which is returned back to research for new development...
